Upgrading to JetNetEditor! On the File menu, there are menu options for creating, opening and savingservice components.! New Service properties are provided to define services to implement databaseaccess operations with the transaction manager. Table views can have the Insert,Update, Delete, and Select service properties set. Link widgets can have theValidation Service property set. Table view widgets on client screens areassigned service property values by the screen wizard to identify the services.If you use the screen wizard to create screens, these properties are automaticallydefined.! Connection to the middleware is provided via a dialog box accessed bychoosing File→Open→Middleware Session.Screen Wizard! The screen wizard now creates service components as well as client screens.The Application Model dialog prompts you to choose between two- or three-tierarchitecture, and whether to create a client screen, a service component, or both.! Three-tier client screens created with the screen wizard do not have Continue(i.e., Next, Prev, First, Last) options built into the screen or menu bar. Theseoperations are not available in a three-tier architecture because a server has toservice multiple client requests and cannot keep track of the state of thedatabase between requests, and also because there is no guarantee that the sameserver will handle repeated requests from a client.! Screens created with the screen wizard use bitmaps. The bitmaps reside in thedistributed client library client.lib.! New transaction manager operation Service properties are automatically set topre-defined services for the transaction manager operations. No coding isnecessary.! When selection screens are created for you in the screen wizard, the nameextensions differentiate between two-tier screens and between client screens andservice components in three-tier.
