Editor's <strong>No</strong>teThe <strong>Pi</strong> <strong>Mu</strong> <strong>Epsilon</strong> Journal was founded in 1949 and is dedicated toundergraduate and beginning graduate students interested in mathematics. Allsubmissions to the Journal should be directed toward this group.Undergraduate and beginning graduate students are urged to submitpapers to the Journal for consideration for publication. Student papers are giventop priority. Expository articles by professionals in all areas of mathematics arealso welcome. Some priority areas are listed in the Editorial (p. 352) in the Fall1996 issue of the Journal. Some guidelines include:Manuscripts must be original work, not have been previously publishednor should they be under consideration for publication elsewhere.Manuscripts must be typewritten, double spaced with wide margins, ononly one ride of 8.5" x 11" white paper. Whenever possible, manuscriptsshould be typewritten in WordPerfect.Including figures, manuscripts should not exceed ten pages in length.Figures should be placed on separate sheets and photo-ready. Camerareadyfigures should measure a maximum of 4.5" wide by 6" long.In order to insure anonymity in the review process, the author's name,affiliation (academic or otherwise), and address should appear only on aseparate title page.The tide must also appear on the first page of the exposition.Each page should be numbered.Students submitting manuscripts should give their school, date ofgraduation, and the name of their faculty advisor for their submission.Two copies of each manuscript and a copy of the disk (whenever themanuscript is typed in WordPerfect) should be submitted to the editor atthe address listed on the inside of the front cover.Eleventh Annual Moravian CollegeStudent Mathematics ConferenceSaturday, February 22, 1997Invited LectureNewton's Original Method-or--Though this be Method, yet there is madness in'tProfessor William DunhamTruman Koehler Professor of Mathematics<strong>Mu</strong>hlenberg CollegeThe one-day conference, sponsored by Moravian College'schapter of <strong>Pi</strong> <strong>Mu</strong> <strong>Epsilon</strong>, is a unique opportunity forundergraduate students in the Tri-State area to meet anddiscuss mathematics.
