This would be exacerbated even moreif the currently approved Junior Sailing Academy building was also located atthis site. It is important to maintain a continuous pedestrian promenade alongthe waterfront, with full public access to the water, and wide enough to cater forthe growing volumes of pedestrian traffic using the space. If the Junior SailingAcademy was alternatively located within the proposed operations building, itwould free up the space in front of the RMYS, creating a new public forecourtwhich is a threshold to the clubhouse, and allowing the public to move aroundthe historic Catani Gardens and past the building to connect more easily to theSt Kilda Pier.29
