LEO CertificationOne of the many ways we strive to carry out our missionstatement is through the leadership programs available oncampus. Our two year leadership certification process iscompleted through the Leadership Experience Opportunityor LEO program. The certification process is divided into foursections, each a semester long. Volunteering, internships,enrichment events and leadership and diversity workshopsare all a part of the program. Students who complete allfour levels are given the option of completing a communityservice project under the direction of our president, Dr.Rogers. Past projects include a walk/run for breast cancerand a Dove Real Beauty Workshop with local middle schoolstudents.The LEO Program will enable her to• Identify and develop her unique leadership style• Connect with women leaders• Embrace diversity• Practice leadership skills that are transferable to herpersonal life, community service and future careers/professions.LEO RequirementsLevel IThis level focuses on getting students involved on campusand creating a sense of accomplishment by requiringvolunteer time in the local community.Level IIThis level focuses on getting students in leadership andservice roles by requiring that they perform active serviceon a committee or athletic team or that they hold office ofan organization for a full semester. It also focuses on honingleadership skills by requiring that they take the course“Complete Leadership Development” and receive at least a“B”.Level IIIThis level continues to encourage our students to leadby requiring that they hold a major leadership position inan organization on campus for at least one full semester.It furthers their career orientation by requiring that theycomplete an internship or job shadow of someone in theirchosen profession.Level IVThis final level wraps up the program. It encouragesstudents to present to large audiences and to create andrefine a one-page leadership resume.Presidential ProjectGraduation from the program requires that studentscomplete this final objective.
