They have given these two children awonderful and car<strong>in</strong>g family. Thomas and Janet have also given these children a chance to shoot for the stars andfullfill their dreams. They feel so blessed to have the opportunity to raise two such beautiful children.The Arrowsmith-Lowes have also dedicated themselves through their professions <strong>in</strong> mak<strong>in</strong>g certa<strong>in</strong> all childrenreceive proper and adequate health care and dental care by volunteer<strong>in</strong>g their services. Not only have they opened uptheir home and lives to two beautiful children, they have opened up their professional lives to children <strong>in</strong> need. Theyare strong children’s rights advocates.Ann NokesRep. Heather WilsonAnn Nokes has been volunteer<strong>in</strong>g at All Faiths Receiv<strong>in</strong>g Home, Inc for 30 years. She serves on the Auxiliary andthe Board of Directors. Ann has long been a child advocate, help<strong>in</strong>g children who need unconditional love, hugs,humor, understand<strong>in</strong>g, and friendship. Ann makes a positive difference <strong>in</strong> every life she touches. No job is too big ortoo small for her. She is known for volunteer<strong>in</strong>g to do anyth<strong>in</strong>g that is needed, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g tak<strong>in</strong>g children to the StateFair and return<strong>in</strong>g with one extra child, obviously a testament to the way children are attracted to her fun-lov<strong>in</strong>g spiritand warm welcome.Ann has long been <strong>in</strong>volved with fund rais<strong>in</strong>g for All Faiths, particularly through her <strong>in</strong>volvement with the UnitedWay. She is <strong>in</strong>volved with 25 annual speak<strong>in</strong>g engagements to tell people of the important services provided by AllFaiths. She also participates <strong>in</strong> daily activities at the Center, help<strong>in</strong>g staff, volunteers, families and most importantlythe children. Recently, she helped All Faiths prepare for the accreditation process by head<strong>in</strong>g up the team, work<strong>in</strong>gmany hours to prepare and f<strong>in</strong>alize all of the documentation required. As you can see, Ann’s talents are far reach<strong>in</strong>gand a true benefit to the community she serves.New YorkKathy Ann BrodskyRep. Jerrold NadlerAs director if the Jewish Child Care Association’s Ametz <strong>Adoption</strong> Program, Kathy Ann Brodsky has counseledthousands of potential parents, biological parents, adoptive parents, and children about adoption. Throughout hercareer, she has served as a resource for even more adoptive families through her articles, presentations, workshopsand newsletters, which provide <strong>in</strong>formation from the basic to the more difficult steps of a formidable adoptionprocess.In 1976, Brodsky started her career with The Children’s Aid Society, which provides Emergency Foster Care forNew York City’s youth. Her attention to the needs of children cont<strong>in</strong>ued with her work at the Children’s Village,where she had both cl<strong>in</strong>ical and adm<strong>in</strong>istrative responsibilities. Brodsky the worked at the New York City Board ofEducation, where she served as a member of the Student Based Support Team.S<strong>in</strong>ce jo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the staff of the Jewish Child Care Association <strong>in</strong> 1986, where she cont<strong>in</strong>ues to work today, Brodsky hasbeen a major voice <strong>in</strong> the adoption community.Reverend Thomas F. BrosnanRep. Nydia VelazquezBorn <strong>in</strong> 1953, Tom Brosnan was adopted by John and Gertrude through the Catholic Home Bureau of New York. In1981, with the dispensation from the impediment of illegitimacy, he was orda<strong>in</strong>ed a Roman Catholic Priest of theDiocese of Brooklyn. Father Brosnan served fourteen years with the Korean Catholic Community of St. Paul ChongHa-sang Church <strong>in</strong> Flush<strong>in</strong>g, NY and is currently pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church <strong>in</strong> Brooklyn, NY.As an <strong>in</strong>ternational speaker and writer, Father Brosnan has advocated for adopted persons who seek the same civilrights as their non-adopted peers, access to their orig<strong>in</strong>al birth certificates. Featured as one of twenty-four storiesabout adoption <strong>in</strong> the recently released Sacred Connections (Runn<strong>in</strong>g Press), Father Brosnan understands the searchfor orig<strong>in</strong>s as a religious experience, a pilgrimage of self-knowledge, a holy endeavor. In 1993, Father Brosnanreceived the “Baran and Pannor Award” for “Outstand<strong>in</strong>g Contributions <strong>in</strong> Open <strong>Adoption</strong>”, recogniz<strong>in</strong>g his courage
