23were transferred to the central freezing boxes inRICP in Prague. All passport data are computerisedusing EVIGEZ system. Descriptor lists for the mostimportant plant species are available. A total of 197new samples were collected during expeditionsand 86 acc. were introduced. A total of 169 acc.were provided to Czech institutions anduniversities and 206 acc. were supplied toapplicants from abroad. Results of research workwere published in scientific journals and presentedto scientific conferences in the Czech Republic,Poland and in the Netherlands. Gene Bank inOlomouc develops contacts with Czechuniversities (e.g. Palacký University in Olomouc,Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry inBrno) in the field of research and education, withCentral Institute for Supervising and Testing inAgriculture, Czech breeding stations and withresearch institutes and gene banks in the world.(Dušek K., Dušková E., Chytilová V., KřístkováE., Losík J., Stavělíková H.)Selection of the flower type of lavender withhigher yield quality and colour stability(0129 II-C-11 (NAAR))A set of 40 lavender accessions consisting of 610plants was morphologically characterised and thedata were correlated with the results of gaschromatographicanalyses of quantitative andqualitative distribution of essential oils. The qualityof the stem, colour of the flower and high contentof essential oils were chosen as the most importantcharacters. The main goal of the project is to findgenotypes with better characters than the standardcultivar ’Krajová’. Interesting and promising plants(78 genotypes) were vegetatively propagated andplanting stock from these stool beds is available tousers. (Dušek K., Schubertová V.)Research Plan, MZe ČR 0002700602: Phase 2.Study of genetic diversity of somehorticultural and medicinal plants andselection of original materials for breedingand production practiceA – The main aim of this sub-phase is to determinethe basic and supplemental morphological types ofgarlic (Allium sativum L.) and to quantify sulphurcompound contents in these types. The garliccollection in Olomouc (612 accessions) wasdescribed according to the Descriptor for Alliumspp. by IPGRI and it was divided into three mainparts on the basis of the description: 1) garlic thatproduces the scape with topset, 2) garlic withoutscape 3) group garlic – semi-bolters. 131 accessionswere selected to determine quantitative andqualitative contents of sulphur compounds and drymatter content. All types of garlic are equallyrepresented in this set. (Stavělíková H.)B – The objective of this project phase is to evaluatemorphological and agricultural characteristics ofBrassica genotypes and to select promisingones for the testing of their resistance toPlasmodiophora brassicae. In 2004, forty Brassicagenotypes representing all cabbage types (early, late, salad, or cutting, old Czech cultivars, worldcultivars, etc.) were evaluated for characteristicssuch as foliage density, shape of cabbage head, resistance to cracking and so on. Twentyinteresting genotypes were chosen to be tested forresistance to Plasmodiophora brassicae in the nextyears. (Chytilová V.)C – To evaluate the variability of regionalpopulations of some medicinal plants 26 localitiesin 5 protected landscape areas (České středohoří,Jizerské hory, Moravský kras, Bílé Karpaty, Šumava)were studied.
