WhiletheprimaryaimofNedbankGroupSponsorshipsistoprovideaplatformonwhichtoprofiletheNedbankbrand,thegroupisalsocommittedtoharnessingitssponsorshipstomakeadifferenceinthelivesofpeoplefromthevariouscommunitiesinwhichitoperates.Thiscommitmentisclearlydemonstratedthroughthestrongdevelopmentalfocusofallsponsorshipopportunities.NedbankGroup’sportfolioofsponsorshipsspecifictotheWesternCape,currentlyinclude;CapeWinemakersGuild(CWG)NedbankGroup’ssponsorshipoftheCWGenablesthegrouptobehighlyinvolvedinthecountry’swineindustryandsupportiveofitstransformation.EstablishedbyNedbankGroupandtheCWGin1999,theNedbankCapeWinemakersGuildDevelopmentTrustiswhollyfundedbydonationsandproceedsraisedthroughsilentandcharityauctionsatvariousNedbank/CWGeventsthroughouttheyear.ThetrustinvestedmorethanR500000insocialupliftment,scholarshipandmentorshipprogrammesforaspiringwinemakersin2010.Thetrustalsoprovidesfinanceforinfrastructuralprojectsatlocalschools,schooltuitionfeesandbursariesforpotentialprotégéprogrammestudents.OtherSponsorshipsVariousexamplesofthesesponsorshipsinclude;NedbankDisabledGolfOpen–Langebaanfor2011and2012.NedbankCup:Variousgamesasperknockoutrounds–2008/09/10.RoadRunning:NedbankCapeTownCityMarathon2007/2008NedbankOldMutualBudgetSpeechCompetition–ongoingCONSUMEREDUCATIONNedbankConsumerEducationLearningTheNedbankConsumerEducationlearningmaterialwasfirstdesignedanddevelopedin2008asaresultofanundertakingmadebythebankwiththeBankingAssociationofSouthAfrica.Theaimofthelearningmaterialwastoprovideclientsandpotentialclientsaccurateandrelevantinformationthatwouldassisttheminmakinginformeddecisionsregardingtheirfinancialwellbeing.Thelearningprogrammedevelopedin2008consistedofthreemainmodulesnamely:BankingProductsandServices,BuyingonCreditandPersonalBudgeting.ThesemodulesweredesignedatNQFLevel1and2toaddresspersonsearningbetweenR1500–R7500permonth.Inpartnershipwithsomeofitscorporateandgovernmentclients,NedbankConsumerEducationbusinessunitsuccessfullyrolledoutthelearningprogrammenationallytothestaffmembersofparticipatingorganisations.Positivefeedbackwasreceivedfromthesesessionsandafurtherneedwasidentifiedtodevelopsimilarprogrammesthatwouldaddressstaffmemberswithahigherincome.Theneedforthismaterialwasbasedonobservationsmadebyboththebankandtheparticipatingorganisationsthathigherincomeearnersweremoreexposedtobeingindebted.NedbankGroupTransformationReport2011–FinalDraft.39
