ENTERING THE COLLEGEADMISSIONS FOR NON-DEGREE ENROLLMENT<strong>Ivy</strong> <strong>Tech</strong> offers courses in many areas. Admission as a non-degree <strong>student</strong> can be achievedsimply by submitting a completed application for admission to the Office of Admissions oronline at www.ivytech.edu. High school <strong>student</strong>s (age sixteen or greater) may take <strong>Ivy</strong> <strong>Tech</strong>courses with the written approval of the appropriate high school official. Non-degree <strong>student</strong>senrolling in general education courses or in courses with English or mathematics prerequisitesmust take the ASSET or COMPASS course placement assessment. Non-degree<strong>student</strong>s taking other courses may also be required to take the assessment. Non-degree<strong>student</strong>s are not eligible to receive federal or state financial aid.ADMISSIONS FOR DEGREE ENROLLMENT<strong>Ivy</strong> <strong>Tech</strong> is an open admissions college. Some degree-granting programs have limitedavailability and have additional requirements prior to acceptance to those programs.The <strong>College</strong> admits to certificate, technical certificate and degree programsthe following:• high school graduates, or• recipients of the General Educational Development (GED)credential, or• individuals 18 years of age or older who are able to benefit from<strong>Ivy</strong> <strong>Tech</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>’s instructional programs.Prospective <strong>student</strong>s will provide on the application for admission the name of the highschool from which they graduated and the date of graduation. Prospective <strong>student</strong>s who arerecipients of a GED will indicate on the application for admission that they have completedthe GED and the date it was earned. High school transcripts are not required for admissionto the college, but may be required for selective admission programs such as Nursing,international <strong>student</strong>s seeking admission, and for certain financialaid programs.ADMISSIONS FOR GUEST STUDENTSProspective <strong>student</strong>s currently admitted as <strong>student</strong>s in good standing at another regionallyaccredited institution of higher education who desire to be admitted to <strong>Ivy</strong> <strong>Tech</strong> <strong>Community</strong><strong>College</strong> for the limited purpose of taking courses for transfer to their home institution can beadmitted using the guest <strong>student</strong> admissions process. Guest <strong>student</strong>s are required to submit aGuest Student Application.Guest <strong>student</strong>s must be in good academic standing at their home institution as determinedby the home institution’s policies. Academic standing will be verified on the Guest StudentApplication by either:a) signature of the Dean or other designated official of their home institution; orb) signature of an <strong>Ivy</strong> <strong>Tech</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> official after review of documentationverifying matriculation during one of the previous two terms at the <strong>student</strong>’s home institution.Guest <strong>student</strong>s shall be admitted for one semester at a time and must complete the GuestStudent Application for each term of enrollment. They are not eligible for any financial aidprogram administered by <strong>Ivy</strong> <strong>Tech</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> while admitted as a guest <strong>student</strong>.The guest <strong>student</strong> may enroll in any course(s) for which they deem themselves eligible.Students should make themselves aware of the prerequisites for each course.6
