The SFUAD campus is ideally located within walking distance of many stores and restaurants, and a quick bus trip to the historic downtown district. Based on the educational philosophy of learning-‐by-‐doing, the Vacation English Immersion supports participants in improving their English language skills with an interactive, student-‐centered approach. The Vacation English Immersion is holistically designed so that participants get the full benefit of language learning opportunities while enjoying their time in Santa Fe. For a true immersion experience, participants attend communicative English classes and cultural workshops, as well as excursions. Communicative English Classes In the English classes, participants focus on developing their communicative English language skills in a comfortable classroom environment. By engaging in fun and interesting language learning activities, participants see their language skills improving from the first day of class! Cultural Workshops In the Cultural Workshops, participants learn about and experience a variety of cultural traditions and themes. Through guest speakers, field trips and active lessons, participants not only use their English language skills, but also expand their intercultural understanding and competency. At the beginning of the Immersion, participants are invited to offer suggestions of possible topics to be included (e.g. Drumming, Graffiti Art, Native American Traditions, Water Color Painting, Jewelry Making, Ethnic Food, Yoga, Film). Excursions Santa Fe is famous for its rich history and cultural traditions, as well as the natural beauty of the surrounding area. Each Friday there will be an excursion to a famous or historic landmark in and around Santa Fe (e.g. Santa Fe Plaza, Bandelier National Monument, Taos Pueblo, Tent Rocks National Monument, Pecos National Historic Park). Laureate English Program | Santa Fe University of Art and Design | 1600 Saint Michaels Dr. | Santa Fe, NM | 87505 | U.S.A. | 505.473.6386 | englishprogram@santafeuniversity.edu | www.laureate-‐english.com
