Examinations are not returned to students, but students will receivenotification of their grades.5.1.5.2 On-campus <strong>Student</strong>sOn-campus students should give at least a 48-hour notice of their desire to write an exam <strong>and</strong>are required to contact the distance education office to book a time.5.2 Grades <strong>and</strong> TranscriptsUpon completion of a course, an unofficial grade report, summarizing the grade earned, willbe issued. <strong>Student</strong>s should carefully review these marks <strong>and</strong> immediately report any errors tothe distance education office. Grades are not released to anyone other than the student, unlessprior permission has been granted in writing by the student.Official transcripts can be requested through Academic Services. All requests must be inwriting <strong>and</strong> signed by the student. Payment of the current fee is required before transcriptswill be produced.5.3 Academic ProbationThe purpose of Academic Probation (AP) is to warn students who have experiencedacademic difficulty that they need to seek help to improve their grades or they may berequired to discontinue their studies at <strong>Briercrest</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>. The consequencesof going on AP will be specified on a case-by-case basis, but may include restrictions on thenumber of courses a student may register for, the level of the courses students are able toenrol in, or other measures as decided upon by the Director of Distance Education. TheDirector will notify students of their probationary status in writing. <strong>Student</strong>s who are enrolledin a program <strong>and</strong> studying primarily through distance will be put on academic probationunder the following circumstances: Current GPA for 1 course is below 2.0 Cumulative GPA is below 2.05.3.1 Required to Discontinue<strong>Student</strong>s may be required to discontinue (RTD) their studies after attaining a GPA of lessthan 2.0 on two consecutive courses. RTD status lasts for 12 months <strong>and</strong> during that time astudent will not be permitted to enrol in any further courses through <strong>Briercrest</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>and</strong><strong>Seminary</strong>. <strong>Student</strong>s who are placed on RTD will be notified of this decision in writing.<strong>Student</strong>s who wish to appeal this decision must do so in writing within five days of receivingthe notice.
