<strong>Student</strong> <strong>H<strong>and</strong>book</strong>Page 20<strong>Briercrest</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>Continuing <strong>and</strong> Distance Education5.6.3.4 Appeal to the Education TeamIf a student wishes to appeal the situation beyond the steps indicated above, he or she maysubmit a written appeal/grievance to the Education Team within 14 days of the decision ofthe Academic Appeals Committee (unless it relates to a time-sensitive issue like examschedules, in which case the appeal must occur within the appropriate time frame). Theappeal must be in written form <strong>and</strong> should include all the details of the case as well as thedecisions rendered in the appeals process. The student should direct it to the academic dean,who will present the appeal to the Education Team. The Education Team will communicatethe decision to the student within two weeks of the appeal. The Education Team maintainsthe right to defer the appeal to the next level (President’s Cabinet) if, for some reason, theyrequire broader counsel to make the decision.5.6.3.5 Grievance to the President’s CabinetIf, after following the appeal process up to <strong>and</strong> including the Education Team, the student isstill dissatisfied with the outcome of her or his appeal, he or she may choose to file agrievance with the President’s Cabinet. This grievance must be in written form <strong>and</strong> shouldinclude all the details of the case as well as the decisions rendered in the appeals process. Thestudent should submit the grievance to the president or one of the vice-presidents of<strong>Briercrest</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>. At this point, the President’s Cabinet may recommendsome form of Christian conciliation where an external ombudsman is asked to come <strong>and</strong> leadthe review process. The decision of the President’s Cabinet shall be considered the final stageof appeal within <strong>Briercrest</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>. ***Notes:* The student can receive helpful guidance for beginning the appeal process from theregistrar.** When necessary, a student or designate may be asked to be present at any point in theappeal process.*** To appeal the decision of the President’s Cabinet, a student may contact the Associationfor Biblical Higher Education at (407) 207-0808 or through mail at 5575 S. Semoran Blvd,Orl<strong>and</strong>o, Florida, 32878-0339.5.7 Graduation RequirementsA student in either a <strong>Briercrest</strong> <strong>College</strong> or <strong>Briercrest</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> distance education programwill graduate with the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies, the Associate of Arts inChristian Studies degree, the Bible Certificate, or the Certificate of the <strong>Seminary</strong> providinghe/she:
