<strong>2010</strong>-20<strong>11</strong>Highlights• The <strong>YFPE</strong>, Inc. hired a part-time secretaryto assist the liaison during this period ofgrowth for the foundation.• The <strong>YFPE</strong>, Inc. “Fund for Excellence”campaign packet and materials designedby Keli M. Slusher, Multimedia DesignSpecialist for the <strong>York</strong> <strong>County</strong> SchoolDivision, won an American Graphic DesignAward from Graphic Design USA.• <strong>York</strong> <strong>County</strong> School Division new teacherswere recognized with “Back to School” giftbags at New Teacher Orientation in August.• Aramark provided complimentary refreshmentsfor various <strong>YFPE</strong>, Inc. board meetingsthroughout the year.• On September 17, <strong>2010</strong>, Kelly and BobbyAshe, Jr. hosted a campaign kick-off eventat their home to teach individuals aboutthe foundation and celebrate those whohad made gifts to the effort.• Twenty-two Innovative Teaching Grantsfor innovative initiatives in the classroomamounting to $8,002 were awarded in thefall and spring semesters.• In partnership with the Committee forMinority Affairs (CFMA), the <strong>YFPE</strong>, Inc.provided financial support for five scholarshipsto a graduating senior from each <strong>York</strong><strong>County</strong> high school and established a CFMAstudent liaison project (total $2,500).• Five Teacher Scholarships for Effective StudentLearning (total $2,885) were awarded.• Four Para-Educator Scholarships totaling$1,600 were awarded.• The first YCSD Employee Scholarship wasawarded in the spring.• All 19 schools in the division successfullyparticipated in the first year of the BayElectric Co., Inc. Technology Initiative.• The 12th <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>YFPE</strong>, Inc. Golf Tournamentwas a success with earnings ofover $20,000.• The <strong>York</strong> Foundation for Public Education,Inc. “Fund for Excellence” Campaign raisedover $600,000 as of June 30, 20<strong>11</strong> with donationsacross all four of the foundation’s goals.• Four elementary schools and one highschool (total $5,800) were granted WholeSchool Improvement grants.• The <strong>YFPE</strong>, Inc. provided financial support toassist <strong>York</strong> <strong>County</strong> Honor and IB graduatesin their pursuit of career goals (total $1,600).8 <strong>York</strong> Foundation for Public Education, Inc.
