Herb H. Borsuk (QC) was elected by
the Nominations Committee of the
Royal College of Dentists of Canada to
serve as Councillor for the Specialty of
Endodontics. Dr. Borsuk will be serving
a three-year term as Councillor.
James L. Gutmann (TX) was awarded
the I.B. Bender Lifetime Educator
Award by the American Association of
Endodontists during its Annual Meeting
in San Antonio. Dr. Gutmann was
recognized for his dedication in constructing
continuing education worldwide,
academic positions held at various
universities and was commended
for being an active member of the AAE
since 1971.
Marc E. Levitan (SC) received the
Edward M. Osetek Educator Award
from the American Association of
Endodontists during the Association’s
recent Annual Meeting in San Antonio.

George P. Thomas (DC) was presented the Alumni
Association’s Distinguished Faculty Award from the
Howard University College of Dentistry, during its 64 th
Annual Alumni Awards and Class Reunion. The award
recognizes his achievements in high quality instruction,
scholarly endeavors and services as hallmarks of excellence
in dental education.
The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO)
elected Michael B. Rogers (GA), President and Gayle
Glenn (TX), Secretary-Treasurer to serve as 2011-2012
offi cers, during its 111 th Annual Session
in Chicago. Brent E. Larson (MN), DeWayne B. Mc-
Camish (TN), Hugh R. Phillis (NH) and Vincent G.
Kokich (WA) were installed as new members of the
Board of Trustees.
Section Achievement Award
The New York Section is the recipient of the
2011 Section Achievement Award. The Section
Achievement Award recognizes ACD Sections
for effective projects and activities in areas such
as a professional education, public education, or
community service.
The New York Section is recognized for teaching
and promoting ethics at three New York dental
schools: Columbia University, New York University,
and Stony Brook University.
