[e] The umpires shall be responsible for determining the minimum overs to be bowled and shall inform the fielding<br />
captain and the batsman of the number of overs.<br />
[f] Except on the final day, when a wicket falls during the last minimum over of the day and within two minutes of<br />
[or anytime after] the scheduled cessation time, stumps shall be drawn immediately. The over shall be<br />
completed the next day and shall not count for the purposes of calculating over rates for that day.<br />
[g] If play has earlier been extended beyond the original cessation time, play may recommence prior to the<br />
rescheduled cessation time provided that playing conditions are fit for play in accordance with the Regulations<br />
governing Grade Competition Matches. If play has not earlier been extended beyond the original cessation time<br />
and players are off the field at the original cessation time due to ground, weather or light, play shall cease for the<br />
day.<br />
[h] Fractions are to be ignored in all calculations re number of overs.<br />
35.5 Preparation of Pitch and Ground<br />
[a] For Finals Matches it is the host Club’s obligation to ensure:<br />
[i] that the wicket has been properly prepared in accordance with the laws of cricket and the<br />
Regulations governing Grade Competition Matches;<br />
[ii] that appropriate arrangements have been made so that ground staff are available at the grounds for<br />
the preparation and repair of the wicket prior to and up to the commencement of play on each<br />
scheduled day of play.<br />
[b] Away teams shall not carry out work on opposition grounds without the permission of the Home Club.<br />
Permission must be sought from the Club President, Secretary or Head Curator and detail what work will be<br />
conducted (i.e. removal of water from the outfield). Clubs are expected to act within the spirit of cricket with<br />
reference to this regulation.<br />
[c] Black sightscreens are required for all First Grade One Day and Twenty20 matches.<br />
[d] Any breach of this regulation will be dealt with at the discretion of the Grade Committee which may impose any<br />
action it deems appropriate.<br />
35.6 Result<br />
[a] A Finals Match cannot be considered completed until:<br />
[i] an outright result is achieved or<br />
[ii] the fixture has reached the scheduled tea interval on the final day’s play (Two Day Finals Matches) or<br />
the cessation time of the third day’s play (Four Day Finals Matches).<br />
[b] Should a decision not be reached in a Final either by an outright win or a win on the first innings the team<br />
occupying the higher place (or with the highest points for a zone competition) at the end of the Premiership<br />
Rounds shall be the winner.<br />
36. PETER BURGE AND KATH SMITH MEDALS<br />
[a] At the conclusion of each day’s play for any Men’s or Women’s First Grade Two Day or One Day match,<br />
umpires shall award points in the sequence of 6-4-2 for the best and fairest players, which will contribute to the<br />
respective Peter Burge and Kath Smith medals for that season.<br />
[b] At the conclusion of each Men’s and Women’s First Grade Twenty20 match, umpires shall award points in the<br />
sequence of 3-2-1 for the best and fairest players, which will contribute to the respective Peter Burge and Kath<br />
Smith medals for that season.<br />
[c] If less than half the number of the scheduled overs for any given day’s play (or half the scheduled overs for a<br />
Twenty20 match) are not bowled, no points shall be awarded on that day.<br />
[d] Any player suspended for one or more matches under the Code of Behaviour will not be eligible for the Peter<br />
Burge Medal or the Kath Smith Medal for that season.<br />
37. SPIRIT OF CRICKET AWARDS<br />
[a] At the conclusion of the day’s play for all competitions, umpires shall award points for the Spirit of <strong>Cricket</strong> in<br />
the sequence as follows:<br />
3 points: Exceptional, epitomised the true spirit, traditions and values of the game<br />
2 points: Played the game in good spirit<br />
1 point: Uncompromising, but incident free<br />
0 points: Generally antagonistic atmosphere created<br />
-1 points: Unacceptable behaviour, captain informed<br />
[b] The guidelines for awarding the above points are as follows:<br />
[i] The captain’s acceptance of their responsibility for their player’s behaviour as required under the Laws of<br />
<strong>Cricket</strong>;<br />
[ii] A team’s adherence to the principles of the Spirit of the Game, which includes respect for teammates,<br />
opponents, and the role of umpires; and<br />
