PERFORMANCE” the presenters
demonstrated the importance of the
right portfolio for enhanced performance
and gave example of Medical Solutions
that offers the most attractive choices
to their customers. The delegates were
then told how they could apply this
principle in their own respective areas
of work. Recommendations were
divided into processes, people and
products and consisted of Initiatives for

Workshop on “ People Excellence”
achieving efficiency and Speed in our
Processes, How to develop leadership
and enhance motivation in employees
and, Initiatives for Innovation and
growth in products
The workshop “PEOPLE
EXCELLENCE” was a very interactive
workshop in which the presenters
entered into a dialogue with the
delegates to iron out certain generally
believed misconceptions and then
guided them towards mutually agreed
conclusions
arrived at by
mutual
discussions
within groups
formed during
the workshop.
In the
workshop
“OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE” the
importance of operational excellence
and it’s meaning was highlighted
through
examples
within COM
MN and how
these could
be applied
to other
businesses by other business units.
The importance of top+ was highlighted
to achieve targets of operational
excellence. In the recommendations it
was suggested that more emphasis be
given to top+ and use of this important
tool must become a way of life in
Siemens Pakistan.
Workshops were graded by participants
in following order:
First position to “People Excellence”
Second Position to “Portfolio Driven Performance”
Third Position to “Operational Excellence”
Most active participants prize for Mr.Irfan Ahmad of PTD Services, Mr.Mansoor
Iqbal of CQMS and Mr. Shaukat Kamal of A&D. The prizes were based on
basis of recommendations from workshop presenters.
Mr.Sohail Wajahat Siddiqui and Dr.Pirzada Qasim address
the guests at Annual Awards dinner.
The annual dinner and awards ceremony
was held at the imposing Darbar Hall of
Karachi Sheraton. The Vice Chancellor
University of Karachi Dr.Pirzada Qasim
Mr.Sohail Wajahat Siddiqui presents a memento to
Dr.Pirzada Qasim
was the chief guest on the occasion. The
company had also invited ex employees
like Mr.Dawood Ansari, Mr.Kamil Reza
Siddiqui, Mr. Mohammad Haleem and
Mr.Parvez Alam which allowed old friends
to renew acquaintances
and prove that the
Siemens family ties live
long after its employees
have left the company.
The evening started with
recitation from the Holy
Quran and was followed
by the address of
welcome of the
Managing Director
Mr.Sohail Wajahat
Siddiqui who in his
address of welcome said
that the presence of the
vice chancellor was a
great motivating factor
for the students receiving
the awards. He said that
encouragement of excellence was part
of the philosophy of Siemens worldwide.
He pointed out that one of the gold medal
recipients had already been employed
in Siemens which shows that the doors

of Siemens Pakistan are open for merit.
The Chief Guest Vice chancellor
University of Karachi Dr.Pirzada Qasim
praised Siemens Pakistan for motivating
Engineering students from across the
country. The vice chancellor stressed the
need for a knowledge based society
which he said was imperative for the
progress of the country. He praised
Siemens for holding this award ceremony
for students which he said was very
motivating for the students. The vice
chancellor said his own experience with
Siemens was very satisfying as they
were involved with the fiber optic project
at the University of Karachi which was
the largest such project in any academic
institution and they did a fine job.
