What have you learned about Augsburgthrough this work?Chris Fleming ’12Psychology/Sociology major, Spanish minorFirst year as a student callerQ. What would you like students andalumni to know about giving back toAugsburg?A. When you do become an alum, rememberthat while you were in school someonemade a way for you to get through college.Remember to always give back to the communitythat gave to you. I know we all say,“Well I will come back to visit and volunteermy time,” but sometimes you must gobeyond. If you dig deep to give a few dollarsto support another student, they willbe able to give back when they graduate. It’s a domino effect.A. I am a recipient of financial aid atAugsburg, so I want to thank all thealumni, parents, and friends who give toThe Augsburg Fund. It’s really importantfor students like me because every gift increasesthe percentage of alumni whogive back. That makes the College morereputable and helps me get a job after Igraduate!Ember Russell ’11Elementary education majorHas been a caller for two yearsQ. Have you had any especially memorable calls?A. What I have learned while working atThe Augsburg Fund is the importance ofkeeping the alumni updated on Augsburg. For example, I talk about the new OrenGateway Center or speak about eventssuch as the chocolate tasting event at theHistory Center. It’s fun to talk to alumniabout what is happening on campus and tolisten to them speak about theirexperiences.A. I was talking with a lady who had studied elementary education. It was really interestingto hear how much the Education Department has changed! She gave me amazing advice onwhat to do when I graduate. I really enjoyed the call, and she made her very first donationto The Augsburg Fund!Fall 201011
