Faith made the connection and causedthe power of God to manifest.walked by them. But nothing happenedwhen they touched Him.There’s no doubt that others touchedJesus accidently. As people were pushingand shoving to get near Jesus, it’slikely that some bumped into Him. Yetthe power of God wasn’t activated by anaccidental touch.Although a multitude surroundedJesus and many people touched Him,the healing power of God was transmittedto just one person. What was differentwhen this woman touched Jesus? The answer is found in verse 34. Jesussaid to the woman, “. . . Daughter, thyfaith hath made thee whole. . . .”Faith made the connection andcaused the power of God to manifest. The Paralytic ManIn Luke chapter 5, we again see onlyone person in the midst of a multitudebeing healed. Jesus was in a housewhere scribes, Pharisees, and doctorsof the law had gathered. It says in verse17 that “. . . the power of the Lord waspresent to heal them.” Yet not one ofthese religious leaders was healed. Thisproves that God’s power alone won’t healsomeone. As Jesus was teaching, four men carryinga paralyzed man tried to get intothe house. They couldn’t get near Jesusbecause of the multitude, so they carriedthe man up to the rooftop and brokethrough the roof to lower him into Jesus’presence. And when Jesus saw theirfaith, He acted.CorrespondingActionsSome may wonder how we can seefaith. Well, we can’t really see faith, butwe can see the results of it. In his letterto the Church, James said, “. . . faithwithout works is dead” (James 2:20). Thismay be a little blind to some. Verse 18in that chapter in the Weymouth translationsays, “. . . ‘You have faith, I haveactions: prove to me your faith apart fromCORRESPONDING ACTIONS and I willprove mine to you by my actions.’ ”Jesus saw the actions of the fourmen. He saw that they had carried theirparalyzed friend to the house He wasin. He saw them break a hole in theroof and lower their friend down. Theparalyzed man then demonstrated faithwhen Jesus said to him, “. . . Arise, andtake up thy couch . . .” (Luke 5:24). Theman immediately got up from his cot, healed by the power of God (v. 25).Some Christians have the mistakenidea that if they are around the power ofGod, they will be healed automatically. But God’s power doesn’t work by itself.Faith has to be mixed with it. And untilfaith is exercised, the power of God isnot activated. Both the woman with the issue ofblood and the paralyzed man made theconnection. Their faith and their correspondingactions caused God’s power tomanifest in their lives. The same principleapplies to us today. Our faith andour corresponding actions are the catalystthat activates the power of God onour behalf. The Power of God:The Cure for All Sicknessand Disease! In Volume 2 of his Miracles of Healing Series,Kenneth E. Confession isfaith’s way of expressing itself. Faith, then, grows withour confession. As believers, we reveal our position—spiritually and naturally— through our confession, andwe set the boundaries of our lives. We won’t receivebeyond what we say.If we say we can’t, then we can’t. We get nothing. Butif we say we can, then we can. Most Christians are weak even though they areearnest because they have never been bold enough todeclare who they are in Christ. How do we do this?First, we must realize how God looks at us, andconfess it.Second, we must boldly confess what the Worddeclares we are in Christ. As we do this, our faith will abound. Our consistentconfession of who we are and what we have in Christwill build a solid, positive faith life.To learn more about connecting to God’s power, visit our online bookstoreat www.rhema.org/store to purchase Craig W.
