With the delivery of one, comes the induction of another. The CH149Cormorant maintenance team has turned a crucial corner and is nowfully transitioned from Aircraft Sampling Inspection (ASI) to DepotLevel Maintenance (DLM). The entire IMP CH149 maintenance teamwas both proud and gratified to see this aircraft take flight after itscomprehensive maintenance was complete and looks forward toapplying the ASI lessons learned to optimize a smooth-running andeffective DLM program.CH149902 arrived here in July 2010, the first of two Cormorants togo through the ASI program. Results of the inspection revealed thatthe second Cormorant (CH149910) was actually in better conditionthan CH149902. Therefore, emphasis was applied to the secondCormorant, resulting in CH149910 being delivered first, in April 2012.CH149902 commenced flight testing on October 29, following a verydetermined effort to complete the final required maintenance activities.Although high winds delayed testing to some extent, the aircraft wasdelivered and returned home to MOB Greenwood on November 10.CH149 CORMORANT DELIVERYSubmitted By: Mike MichaudThe delivery of CH149902 signifies the end to ASI and the continuationof DLM with the induction of the second DLM aircraft, CH149908, onNovember 13. InCanada, Pat turned his focus to model railways. His love of trainsencouraged him to take a trip across Canada by rail earlier this year.A trip he thoroughly enjoyed.Pat’s attitude towards his illness was inspirational. He faced it headon with amazing inner strength, and on his regular visits back to CSChe was always positive and upbeat.Pat was a dedicated and professional individual and a friend to many.He will be greatly missed by family, friends and colleagues.IN MEMORY OF ROBERT FACEYIt is with great sadness that t we announce the sudden loss ofRobert Facey who passed away unexpectedly on October 13, 2012.Originally from Twillingate, Nfld, Rob had been employed as anAirframe Mechanic with IMP for nearly eight years in total. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be. There are alot of quick and easy ways to keep your holidays costs down withoutsacrificing the experience of the season.Holiday spending should always start with a spending plan and a fewimportant questions:– How much have you allotted to spend?– Who are you buying for? Do you need to travel?– Are you entertaining family and friends?– What extra groceries will you need for holiday baking or a turkeydinner?– Are you buying a tree this year?– What about new decorations and lights?Think of your spending plan like your grocery list – if you stick to thelist, you’re more likely to avoid the statement shock when the billscome in January.“It’s very easy to be pulled into the festivities and spend more thanyou can afford every year leading up to the big day in December,”says Tracy Watson, spokesperson for Money Mentors. “It’s importantto remember that needs and wants apply to gift giving. For example, just because the most requested gift by kids between 6 and 12 is aniPad, it’s highly unlikely they need one…or that parents need to buythem one.”Holiday Tips from the counsellors at Money Mentors:Comparison-shopping is your friend. Do your research online andin flyers before you commit to buying.Give the gift of time: Plan to spend time together or do somethingfor people that already have everything.Host a potluck with friends and family. It splits the costs, addsvariety and you get all the best parts of entertaining.Buying for somebody special? You don’t have to break the bank tobe thoughtful.Start planning your 2013 Christmas expenses now. If you neednew decorations or lights, the best time to get them is in January, not October, November or December.Track your spending this year and make that your budget for nextyear. Then divide it by 12 and put that amount away each month.Having the money put aside will decrease stress this time nextyear…and save you money on credit card interest if you carry abalance after Christmas. When you’re buying gifts, remember: you don’t have to beeveryone’s Santa.
