IntroductionProgrammeEntry QualificationOther RequirementsThe Faculty of Built Environment (FBE)was formally established in July 2000.This faculty started as a programmewithin the University’s Faculty of Engineeringin 1995. The programme wenton to become a division within the Engineeringand later, in 2000, wasgranted autonomy to run as a fullfledgedfaculty. The FBE consists offour departments: Department of Architecture,Department of BuildingSurveying, Department of Estate Managementand Department of QuantitySurveying.Master of Science (Architecture) is thefirst research-based postgraduate programmeoffered by the Faculty of BuiltEnvironment. This programme is intendedto engage in the wider issuesof architecture and environmental design.The programme leads to a Mastersdegree that is independent fromand, therefore, does not provide forexemption from any part of any professionalcourses in Malaysia.Applicants for the degree of Master ofScience (Architecture) must have thefollowing qualification:1. A bachelor degree with a CGPA of3.00 and above from University ofMalaya or its equivalent in the followingareas: (i) Quantity Surveying;or (ii) Building Surveying; or(iii) Estate Management ; or (iv)Science in Architecture ; or (v) ArtsLanguage requirement:International applicants are required to:1. Have the minimum of IELTS band 6or TOEFL score of 550 if their firstdegree is from a university whereEnglish is not a medium of instruction;AND;2. Fulfill the Bahasa Malaysia requirementbefore being conferred the degree.in Architecture ; or (vi) Rural andUrban Planning; or (vii) LandscapeArchitecture; or (viii) Interior Design;OR;2. An equivalent qualification that is ofRegistrationResearch Areas:Architectural Acousticscomparable academic status as approvedby the Senate upon the recommendationof the Faculty. Applicantsshall submit evidence of adequatetraining and ability to undertakethe proposed programme.Candidates can register at any time duringa semester, but fees are alwayscharged on full semester basis.
