IntroductionProgrammeEntry QualificationOther RequirementsThe <strong>Faculty</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Built</strong> <strong>Environment</strong> (FBE)was formally established in July 2000.This faculty started as a programmewithin the University’s <strong>Faculty</strong> <strong>of</strong> Engineeringin 1995. The programme wenton to become a division within the Engineeringand later, in 2000, wasgranted autonomy to run as a fullfledgedfaculty. The FBE consists <strong>of</strong>four departments: Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>Architecture</strong>,Department <strong>of</strong> BuildingSurveying, Department <strong>of</strong> Estate Managementand Department <strong>of</strong> QuantitySurveying.Master <strong>of</strong> Science (<strong>Architecture</strong>) is thefirst research-based postgraduate programme<strong>of</strong>fered by the <strong>Faculty</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Built</strong><strong>Environment</strong>. This programme is intendedto engage in the wider issues<strong>of</strong> architecture and environmental design.The programme leads to a Mastersdegree that is independent fromand, therefore, does not provide forexemption from any part <strong>of</strong> any pr<strong>of</strong>essionalcourses in Malaysia.Applicants for the degree <strong>of</strong> Master <strong>of</strong>Science (<strong>Architecture</strong>) must have thefollowing qualification:1. A bachelor degree with a CGPA <strong>of</strong>3.00 and above from University <strong>of</strong>Malaya or its equivalent in the followingareas: (i) Quantity Surveying;or (ii) Building Surveying; or(iii) Estate Management ; or (iv)Science in <strong>Architecture</strong> ; or (v) ArtsLanguage requirement:International applicants are required to:1. Have the minimum <strong>of</strong> IELTS band 6or TOEFL score <strong>of</strong> 550 if their firstdegree is from a university whereEnglish is not a medium <strong>of</strong> instruction;AND;2. Fulfill the Bahasa Malaysia requirementbefore being conferred the degree.in <strong>Architecture</strong> ; or (vi) Rural andUrban Planning; or (vii) Landscape<strong>Architecture</strong>; or (viii) Interior Design;OR;2. An equivalent qualification that is <strong>of</strong>RegistrationResearch Areas:Architectural Acousticscomparable academic status as approvedby the Senate upon the recommendation<strong>of</strong> the <strong>Faculty</strong>. Applicantsshall submit evidence <strong>of</strong> adequatetraining and ability to undertakethe proposed programme.Candidates can register at any time duringa semester, but fees are alwayscharged on full semester basis.
