Torque values for hex head cap screws are for turning the nut while holding the head of the cap screw with a wrench.In applications where access to the nut is limited, increase the torque value by 20% for tightening by the cap screwhead.2. Torque values are for standard, non-lubricated Chromate products as delivered (plated, black oxide or plain finish).33CAUTION: The above data should only be used as a reference guide. The proper torque can only be determined by analyzing thedesign parameters which include temperature, plating, lubrication, etc. Short time tensile, creep and stress relaxation should beconsidered for applications where the temperature exceeds 400 o F (204 o C). Lower ductility, impact strength and fatigue life mustbe considered for screws subject to temperatures below -20 o F (-29 o C).
