Dr. William a. “Bill” lucas is executive director of the Cambridge-
MIT Institute (CMI), an MIT and Cambridge University partnership. His
research includes the study of knowledge exchange in cross-functional
development teams in industry and in university-industry collaborations,
and evaluation research on programs for young professionals who will
become leaders of innovation. His work before MIT included university
teaching, The Rand Corporation, government service, and time in the
telecommunications industry.

Dr. richard G. “Dick” rhoades is director of the University of Alabama
in Huntsville’s (UAH) Research Institute and professor of Engineering
Management. His current research focuses on weapon system technical
risk assessment and avoidance, propulsion system analysis, strategic
planning, and organizational design. Prior to joining UAH, Dr. Rhoades
held numerous positions in the Missile Research, Development and
Engineering Center at Redstone Arsenal, including three Senior Executive
Service positions.
