Coles’s hot new space
SADIE COLES is launching a new contemporary art
gallery at 4 New Burlington Place. The 5,000 ft
showroom is Coles’s second gallery in the area and will
host a rotation of exhibitions to parallel the exciting
programme at 69 South Audley Street.
First up is a major exhibition of new sculpture by
Swiss artist Urs Fischer. Named after the 20th century
film director Douglas Kirk, the exhibition features a series
of chrome-steel boxes, which have been screen-printed
with hyperreal images of miscellaneous objects.

A world view
CHRIS BEETLES is branching into new territory, with its first
exhibition of international photography.
The exhibition brings together the works of 43
photographers in a unique survey of 20th century photography.
Works on show range from early prints by Eugene Atget,
Jacques-Henri Lartigue and Lewis Hine to Brian Duffy’s 1973
album-cover shot of David Bowie as Aladdin Sane and Irving
Penn’s iconic 1957 portrait of Pablo Picasso [left].
Eve Arnold, Angus McBean, Bill Brandt and David Bailey are
just some of the other names included.
The Photographers runs from October 13-30 at Chris Beetles,
