The PublicElementary school at Bollington Cross is licensed fordivine service, which is held here on Sundays, morningand evening. The building at Kerridge formerly usedas a National school is also licensed for divine service,which is held here on Sunday afternoon. 'The Catholicchurch in Chapel street, erected in 1834, is dedicatedto St. Gregory, and wUl seat about 250 persons. TheCongregational chapel, in Palmerston street, erected in1867, is an edifice of stone in the Early Decorated style,with a turret and spire 96 feet high, and affords 450sittings. The Wesleyan chapel in Wellington road, builtin i666, at a cost of about ;^6,ooo, is of stone, with aturret and spire, and has about 700 sittings. The Wesleyanchapel at Kerridge, built in igoi, is of whitestone, and will seat 350 persons. The Primitive Methodistchapel in High street, built in i85g, is of stone,and seats about 550 persons. The Methodist New Connexionchapel, in Greenshaw lane, is a small iron buUding.The undenominational Sunday school in Palmerstonstreet, erected in 1861, at a cost of ^^2,000, is alsoused for public entertainments, and wUl seat about goopeisuns. In and adjoining the township are severallarge mUls for the manufacture of cotton fabrics.Situate at the extreme point of a ridge of hills here isa small conical stone tower, called "White Nancy,"erected for the purpose of a land boundary; inside it isa stone table with seats surrounding it, and from thissite extensive views are obtained.
