TACTIC C-15 Intertidal Booming (Page 1 of 2) Intertidal Booming (Page 2 of 2) TACTIC C-15NOTE: “Base Location” is storage location (may change seasonally); “Mobe Time” is time to get it out of storage, prepare it foroperation, and make it ready to travel (concurrent for all equipment); “Deploy Time” is time to make it operational for its intended useat the spill site. These times do not include travel time from base to spill site, which may have multiple components (see Tactic L-3).Shoreline ProjectionCross-SectionEQUIPMENT AND PERSONNELTo determine the approximate length of Shore Seal boom required, multiply 1.1 times the length of shoreline to beprotected. Select vessels and booms according to area, water depth restrictions, and function (see Tactic L-6).Conventional BoomAir ChamberWater ChamberShore Seal BoomShoreEQUIPMENTShore Seal BoomFloating Pump and BlowerBASELOCATIONACS, KRU, MPU,AlpineACS, KRU, MPU,AlpineFUNCTIONOil exclusionPIECES>50 ft# STAFFPER SHIFTMOBETIMEShore Seal inflation 1 1 hr4Work Boat All Boom placement 1 1 hrAnchor System All Anchor boom Variable 1 hr1 hrDEPLOYTIME1.5 hrWater*Recovery crews will perform maintenance.TOTAL STAFF FOR SETUP 4*Shore Seal Boom Cross-SectionOilAir-filledWaterWater-filledSUPPORTSorbents are used in conjunction with Shore Seal boom. Shore Seal booms also protect shoreline from wave events. Shore Seal boom will adjust to changing waterlevels.• When the boom is grounded, the heavy water ballast seals the boom to the shoreline and prevents oil frommoving along the intertidal zone.ACS Tech. Manual Vol. 1, 03/12 NOTE: All values given on these pages are for planning purposes only.NOTE: All values given on these pages are for planning purposes only. ACS Tech. Manual Vol. 1, 03/12
