capnographsNEW Capnograph Type 340 for Small RodentsRespirationcapnographsApplications• Capnography• Anesthesia survey• Respiratory monitoringFeatures• Low volume Capnograph• Waveform display on LCD display• Can be extended to a respiratory monitoring system• Continuous measurement evaluation of etCO 2• In Extended Version continuous monitoringof Respiratory Flow, Tracheal Pressure,Tidal Volume, Respiratory RateThe main function of this unit is capnography. With the extension usingadditional sensors it can become a complete respiratory survey andmonitoring system.Basic Capnography FunctionThe capnograph is equipped with a built-in highly sensitive infraredspectroscopy CO 2 sensor. The sensor is pressure and temperaturecompensated. The very low volume of the sensor, the optimized systemvolume and the application of a micro-pump allows very accurate monitoring ofrespiratory CO 2 concentration on small animals.Extended Functions (optional)The Capnograph can be equiped with two additional sensors. A pressuresensor for measuring tracheal pressure and a pneumotach with differentialpressure transducer for measuring respiratory airflow. These sensors aremounted directly on the tracheal or intubation cannula and connected tothe control unit, this serves to minimize the dead space. The tracheal pressure and the respiratory flow are important signals tomonitor mechanical ventilation when using a respirator. This aids avoidanceor barotraumatic ventilation and indicates the efficiency of the ventilation. The evaluated parameters are :• Peak Inspiratory Flow• Peak Expiratory Flow• Peak Inspiratory Pressure• Positive End-Expiratory Pressure• Tidal Volume• Respiratory RateF62Harvard Apparatus • phone 508.893.8999 • toll free U.S. 800.272.2775 • fax 508.429.5732 • www.harvardapparatus.com

V8401 CapnocheckcapnographsThe V8401 Capnocheck is a highly transportable monitor designed to providespot-check reading of End Tidal CO 2 (EtCO 2 ). It also provides inspired CO 2 andrespiration measurement on most animals. Simple one-touch controls makeit easy to use. The V8401 operates on internal rechargeable batteries or can beconnected to an AC adapter. An infrared link sends data to an external printer. Now the accuracy and reliability of capnometry is available in a lightweighttransportable unit that runs on AC or battery power. A bright LED displayprovide EtCO 2 and respiration rate measurements. One-touch, direct functionkeys and the lightweight ergonomic design offer ease of operation with bothintubated and non-intubated animals. The V8401 draws a sample of gasthrough the sample cell. It uses an infrared (IR) light source, optical bandpass filter and detector to measure the amount of CO 2 in the sample. TheEtCO 2 is displayed as an average of 4 breaths. The continuous CO 2 waveformis used to detect each breath and to compute the respiratory rate. Whenusing N 2 O in an anesthesia setup, the N 2 O compensation can be ‘Enabled’ tocompensate for the interference of N 2 O on the CO 2 measurement. The V8401 Capnocheck comes complete with an instruction manual, ACadapter/charger, patient attachment kit PY2 72-3232, CO 2 monitor exhaustkit PY2 72-3253 and protective boot.Respirationcapnographs• Spot-check End-Tidal CO 2at an affordable price• Easy to read LED displays for EtCO 2and respiration rate• CO 2waveform numeric valuesand on-screen trending• Quantitative breath indicator bar• Reliable sidestream technology for use onintubated and non-intubated animals• One-touch function keys for easy operation• Ergonomic design and lightweight, just 650 grams (22 oz)• Sample rate = 120 ml/minSpecificationsEnd Tidal CO 2:MeasurementRangeAccuracyFlow RateResponse TimeAveragingRespiration Rate:RangeAveragingPower Requirements:InputNon-Dispersive IR absorption0 to 100 mmHg or 0 to 10.0% CO 2or 0 to 13.3 kPa±2 mmHg; or 4% of reading, whichever is greater(0 to 10% CO 2)120 ±20 ml/min2.46 sec to 90% of value with 8 ft patient line4-breath average0 - 150 bpm4-breath average(Optional) 120 V-, 50/60 Hz; (Optional) 230 V-, 50/60 HzBatteryLi+ (lithium ion), 7.4 VDC Replaceable, internal rechargeable, life of 6 hoursAC Chargers105-125 VAC, 50/60 Hz208-252 VAC, 50/60 Hz (optional)90-100 VAC, 50/60 Hz (optional)Dimensions, H x W x D127 x 111 x 73.7 mm (5 x 4.4 x 2.9 in)Weight630 g (22 oz)Order #PY2 72-6016PY2 72-6017PY2 72-3253PY2 72-3232ProductHand Held Capnometer, 120 VAC, 60 HzHand Held Capnometer, 220 VAC, 50 HzCO 2Monitor Exhaust KitPatient Attachment KitF64Harvard Apparatus • phone 508.893.8999 • toll free U.S. 800.272.2775 • fax 508.429.5732 • www.harvardapparatus.com
