Sunland Springs Village VoiceDecember 2009 Around the VillageSunland SpringVillage HomeownersAssociationMonthly ManagerMeetingTuesday, October 27,2009 9:50AMAuditoriumThe meeting was called to order by John Lippert; Managerof the HOA through Rossmar & Graham at 9:50 a.m. afterdistributing a copy of the Master Association Financial Reportfor the period ended September 30, 2009. Jeff Decker, VicePresident of the Master Association Board of Directors andFarnsworth Homes, attended with Fran Davidson as RecordingSecretary. Mr. Lippert thanked Jane Harrel for providingthe minutes of the meeting during the summer.Mr. Lippert reviewed the Financial Report noting that theSSV HOA Management Company- Rossmar and Grahamhad renegotiated their service contract and reduced fees tothe HOA approximately 22 percent. Maintenance & Securityexpenses include the annual cost of stripping the Auditoriumfloor, cleaning the kitchen vents, cleaning all the upholsteredchairs including the Billiard & Superstition Room chairs andcarpet cleaning. The Picnic Park wall is complete, the grass is in and an additionaltree is planned. The wall cost approximately $10,000and the landscaping was $5,000. Some additional decoratingstone is being applied on the outside pillars. The plannedenlargement of the serving area at the ballpark is nearingcompletion with the railing still to be added. The 2010 Annual Assessment Fee has been set at $505. Thisis an increase of 6% over last year. Mr. Lippert noted thatpast increases were near 10%. The Budget for 2010 is $1.1million dollars.Extra phone directories are now available at the Activitiesoffice for $2. Every HOA member is entitled to one freedirectory. An additional railing was installed at the Spa and the pooltables were recovered.Twelve of the sixteen shuffleboard courts were resurfaced. Thecourts will be used for the Western Shuffleboard AssociationTournament to be held in November.Other projects: Gaps in the grouting in the pool area are beingaddressedMotion sensor lights have been added to the restrooms in theActivity courtyard. The hot water heater for the Hospitality Room was replaced. The air conditioner was replaced at the Fitness Center for$3500.Questions, comments and concerns from the audience followed:• There was discussion of Rossmar’s reduced fees and commentsas to Farnsworth’s efforts to reduce charges.• Jeff Decker noted that the SSV HOA fees are usually halfof similar communities and they continue to work on reducingcosts and getting competitive bids. He was also glad thatthe annual increase was reduced to 6% compared to previousyears of near 10%.• Mr. Decker said Farnsworth had recently sold two homesand are near to meeting their goal of closing on 50 units thisyear. One area that is affecting sales is that potential buyersare being affected by the slow sale of their current homes. There being no further business to come before the Association, the meeting adjourned at 10:10 a.m.Respectfully submitted, Fran Davidson, Recording Secretary

The term “HappyHolidays” is an empty phrase that indicates a need for essence. If you are from Canada, the reference used for “vacation” is“holiday.” This means a time to “vacate” one area of your lifefor a period of time and spend it somewhere else. With this understanding, “Happy Holidays” used to referenceChristmas is out of place and insignificant. Christmasis taken from the name given to the Son of God, born to bethe Savior of the World. He is The Christ, The Anointed ofGod, to bring salvation to mankind. We celebrate Christmasto rejoice over the greatest gift ever given to the world by GodHimself. Hear the voice of the Angel of the Lord to the lowlyshepherds guarding their sheep: “I bring you good news ofgreat joy that will be for all people. Today a Savior has beenborn to you; he is Christ the Lord.” Everyone is invited toattend the Springs Chapel Christmas Eve Worship. It will bean evening of carols, choir, Advent Candle ceremony, readingsand meditation beginning at 5 PM in the SSV Auditorium.Springs Chapel Worship is in existence for this very purpose,to declare the good news of the Savior, born on ChristmasDay! Worship each Sunday at 9 AM in the SSV Auditoriumand share with us our joy in the Christ of Christmas all year.Merry Christmas!

HarrelA new block wall was recently built along the north side of Guadalupe to provide a definition of the Picnic Area fromthe Dog Park.Did you know there are four covered picnic tables with benches there? Did you know there is a restroom? Did you knowthere is a grassy area for you and your grandchildren to romp and play? Or how about four-corner catch with a Frisbee? Thereis even an electrical outlet to plug in a lamp to continue your card game after dark; or how about a radio to provide music todance or sing along to. This is all thanks to Becki Burch who petitioned friends and neighbors in SSV, then took the idea tothe Recreation Committee with estimates of costs for this improvement, and it ultimately was approved by the HOA.To get to the Picnic Park, head south on Wattlewood, turn right on Nell and left on Teakwood, then right to the parkinglot. The park is open to all residents and no reservations are required. So come on down and have some backyard fun. It isfinally cooling off enough to enjoy staying outside.Becki and Steve Burch,Helen and Richie Denney,Larry and JacqueZufelt, Mary and SteveFollestad, Barbie andKen Culver all enjoyeda lazy afternoon at thepark.Enough room to throw aFrisbee or a football around.“We want plentyof nothing!”480-641-08186955 E. 20 December 2009 Sunland Springs Village VoiceOpen Letter To East Valley Seniors and Grandparents…55 Year Old Grandmother Ends Frustrations With Dentures…Experiences Sheer Joy Of Gorgeous, Strong Teeth, And Re-Ignites Her MarriagePhyllis Hicks had been hiding something. This busy grandmother ran the family business while taking care of her grandkids. On the outside, it lookedlike she “had it all”, however she was struggling with a ever increasingly frustrating problem that had plagued her for 20 years. Phyllis had lost her teeth atthe early age of 45. This caused her to be confined to the limitations of dentures. Not being able to eat the foods that she treasured and loved. Through timeand nature, Phyllis had lost most of the bone that she was relying on to support those dentures. She was suffering from sores her dentures had caused due tothe fact that they didn’t fit any more and this created excessive rubbing. Her constant fear that her teeth might pop out at any moment was paralyzing her insocial settings.“Dentures made me seem older than I was”Her face was sagging from the lack of muscle support and she had deep wrinkles making her look years older than she reallywas. Phyllis would never complain; it wasn’t in her nature. But she was unhappy. Desperately trying to tell herself that she was stillbeautiful, but in her words, “dentures made me seem older than I was…both physically and emotionally!”“Her Youthful Spirit Started To “Age” Rapidly”Her husband commented that the hardest part for him was not the physical changes that immediately started to take place. It wasthe fact that “her youthful spirit started to age rapidly! There is nothing worse than to see your sweetheart lose the twinkle in hereyes or feel for one second that she wasn’t as beautiful or attractive as I know she is. The hard part is that my words didn’t matter. She ‘felt’ older, less attractive, and went from being extremely outgoing to now covering her mouth with a napkin when eating andhiding her smile in public settings.”The “Miraculous” Solution That Most Seniors Have Zero Clue AboutFortunately for Phyllis, startling advancements in dentistry provided her with options that weren’t available for her in the past 20 years Now Phyllis is laughing, smiling, andenjoying those grandchildren with the confidence and pleasure she desires. Her friends now admire her new beauty…and some have actually admitted gossiping about what plasticsurgery she might have had. After all, “she is looking 10 years younger!”Phyllis Got Her Life BackHer husband says she looks like the beautiful young woman he fell in love with many years ago. Most importantly she has that twinkle in her eye and bounce in her step again. At this point, youmay be wondering what the ‘solution’ is… and I’ll tell you that in a moment, but first I’d like to share with you.7 Reasons Why People Become Irritated And Frustrated With Their Ill-Fitting, Rubbing, Unattractive Dentures!1. Dentures coming loose as you laugh, cough or sneeze. Have the confidence and security of teeth that stay in.2. A thick layer of nasty tasting denture adhesives interfering with your enjoyment of food. No need for that, your teeth are firmly attached without the need for those sticky pastes.3. Wrinkles from loss of bone and tissue to support the delicate muscles of the face. Your youthful appearance will return because you will replace what Mother Nature has taken away… and beprepared for the questions asking if you had plastic surgery.4. Not being able to eat the foods you want. There is nothing worse than having to watch what you order at restaurants for fear that you won’t be able to chew it in front of your friends and loved ones.Your menu options will open up as you explore foods again that you had to abandon because you weren’t able to chew .5. Sores from loose fitting dentures rubbing your gums. No more pain.6. Covering your face with your hands for fear of embarrassing situations. You will find yourself looking in the mirror more because you weren’t hiding anymore. Friends and loved ones are goingto comment how happy you seem now. You might even fall in love all over again.7. Aging Appearance: Now you can look younger. Get back the 10 years of life that was taken from you when you lost your teeth. Now, here’s a startling statistic that made me ask the question:“Why Aren’t Seniors Being Told These Facts About How Their Dentures Or Missing Teeth Are Affecting Their Health?”Respected research from the world renowned Mayo Clinic found that people who are missing teeth are likely to die 10 years earlier than their peers with all their teeth. Your health and your chanceat happiness have been reduced by 14%. That’s loss of time with loved ones, travel plans never taken, and enjoying your well deserved retirement. It’s quality time to do what YOU WANT TO DO ...stolen from you.A Widespread Health Epidemic• At least 69% of adults ages 35 to 44 have lost at least one tooth.• A staggering 26 percent of people between the ages of 65 to 74 have lost all their teeth. A condition often referred to as “dental cripples.”• Life expectancy has increased from 45 to 70 years of age creating the need for the body to be properly fueled to achieve its long term goal… to live.• While many people believe aging represents the years of life, really, it is measured as the continuous loss of functional capabilities. In plain English, it’s how the body wears out and how fast, having nothing to do with time.Medical And Dental Effects Associated With Missing TeethMedical Consequences• The link between the loss of teeth from gum disease and the increased risk of stroke and heart attack has been well researched. When the teeth arelost, the damage the gum disease created doesn’t go away. The body has permanently lost bone.• People without teeth…spend approximately 17% more on drugs due to increased health issues.• With missing teeth, there is evidence of an increased rate of stomach and intestinal disorders due to the patients inability to chew properly, swallowing large pieces of food.• Shorter life expectancy -Due to a loss of function and diminished sense of taste, full denture patients suffer from a higher rate of systemic disease thataffect the whole body.• Due to the loss of taste, people with missing teeth and dentures tend to add excessive amounts of salt, sugar and seasonings in order to flavor the foodthey eat. This increased sugar consumption can lead to diabetes and obesity in a group that is already at higher risk for these conditions. Increasedsalt intake has been linked to high blood pressure and an increased risk of strokes and heart attacks. There is an increased risk of death due to vomiting if you have no teeth. This hardly ever getsmentioned except in CPR courses. Remember, the statistics have shown that full denture wearers have an alarmingly shorter life expectancy - by ten years - than the general public. One Step Solution To Loose DenturesThe best news is that the same solution Phyllis received is available to you. It is by having your Dentures or missing teeth replaced by “Dentals Implants! Dental implants provide a base and supportto make your denture stable. This technique is the latest dental implant procedure to help people suffering from ill fitting loose dentures and missing teeth. If you have considered implants in the past butfound that they were too expensive for your situation, you will be surprised to find what Dental Implants can do for you.Single Tooth Implant For PeopleMissing Teeth or Wearing A PartialDentureEasy and AffordableImplants are affordable. In most cases this easy, one-step procedure allows you to have your implants placed in the morning, and then enjoy your new teethfor dinner!!! Here’s How It Works: Placement of the implants is accomplished quickly and easily in a procedure that is performed in the dental office. It’susually in the morning. Using a precisely controlled, minimally invasive technique the implants are placed into the jaw bone. The heads of the implants protrudefrom the gum tissue and provide a strong, solid foundation for securing the dentures. This technique works for both upper and lower dentures. This is a simpleeffective procedure that will have you out of the office and at your favorite restaurant in no time! How Can I Be One of The People to Benefit From This Procedure?Dr. Sullivan, from right here in the East Valley, is a leader in providing dental implant restorations to his patients to alleviate their frustrations and suffering whilereturning them to a state of overall health. “The benefits of implants far outweigh the benefits of wearing dentures or living with missing teeth” Dr. Sullivan reports.“Many people who are interested in restoring their smiles often ask questions like ‘how much does it cost’ or ‘how long will it take’, I let them know about all theoptions that are available for their situation.
