As of the <strong>de</strong>sign phase, business engineers use mo<strong>de</strong>lling in or<strong>de</strong>rto dimension the sample-hol<strong>de</strong>r that will house the test specimens to beirradiated.The co<strong>de</strong>s used are for example: Neutronics: ANUBIS system, Double-phase water-steam thermohydraulics: FLICA4 and CATHARE, Thermomechanics and fluid mechanics: CAST3M.These calculations are used to <strong>de</strong>sign the <strong>de</strong>vice in or<strong>de</strong>r to respect thecustomer’s requests with the highest <strong>de</strong>gree of accuracy, in particular thetemperature of the samples and the duration of irradiation.Temperature distribution in the sheathof four UO 2 fuel rods loa<strong>de</strong>d inthe ISABELLE 4 loop.ANUBISThe <strong>CEA</strong> is currently <strong>de</strong>signinga new generation of the neutroncalculation procedure (ANUBIS).It is based on the APOLLO2(<strong>de</strong>terministic lattice co<strong>de</strong>), CRONOS2(<strong>de</strong>terministic co<strong>de</strong> core) andTRIPOLI4 (Monte Carlo co<strong>de</strong>) co<strong>de</strong>s,all three of which have been <strong>de</strong>velopedat the <strong>CEA</strong>. ANUBIS implements thelatest functionalitiesof these co<strong>de</strong>s, which are alreadyused by our industrial partners.APOLLO2 is used by EDF andFramatome ANP in their respectiveneutron calculation chains(the SCIENCE chain of FramatomeANP is certified by NRC). “Standard”core calculations are 3-D diffusioncalculations for 6 groups of energy.ANUBIS is also used to carryout calculations of the completecore of <strong>OSIRIS</strong> with its irradiationload, using the characteristicsmethod.
