• Port Grimaud<br />

a lacustrine town which rose<br />

out of the sands in 1966 at<br />

the bottom of the Gulf of<br />

Saint-Tropez, known as<br />

“The little V<strong>en</strong>ice”.<br />

Remarkable architecture in a<br />

Mediterranean style. Visit the<br />

canals in electric powered boats.<br />

The perched villages above the Gulf of Saint-Tropez<br />

and the Massif des Maures<br />

• Grimaud<br />

A charming little village. The ruines of<br />

the 11th c<strong>en</strong>tury Castle, the windmill, the<br />

Museum of Arts and Local Traditions and<br />

the Art Galeries.<br />

• Gassin<br />

A fortified village of the 13th c<strong>en</strong>tury.<br />

An exceptional view over the p<strong>en</strong>insula.<br />

The church and its bell tower, the narrow<br />

• La Garde-Freinet<br />

A discreet little village, perched like a<br />

citadel, away from the bustling of the coast,<br />

it is appreciated by many artists. It is also the<br />

departure point for several mountain walks<br />

in the massif des Maures : le fort Freinet,<br />

rupestral habitat of the 12th c<strong>en</strong>tury, with a<br />

spl<strong>en</strong>did view over the Mediterranean slope.<br />

Numerous craftsm<strong>en</strong> in the village.<br />

• Collobrières<br />

Known as the capital of the massif des<br />

Maures, in the c<strong>en</strong>ter of a huge forest area,<br />

this charming village is dominated by<br />

the Col du Babaou to the south, la<br />

Chartreuse de la Verne to the east and<br />

Notre-Dame des Anges to the north (an<br />

exceptional view). Paradise for an escapade<br />

on foot, on horse back or on bike. This<br />

spot was used by Jean Aicard to set the<br />

adv<strong>en</strong>tures of Maurin des Maures. A reputed<br />

local delicacy : chestnuts of Collobrières.<br />

• Ramatuelle<br />

Built in a circular pattern on top of the hill,<br />

the village is surrounded by a luxurious<br />

vegetation. To see: Place de l’Ormeau, the<br />

Sarrasine door, the Théatre de Verdure where<br />

festivals are held during the summer, the<br />

magnific<strong>en</strong>t Pampelonne beach, the walks<br />

on the coastal paths of the littoral…<br />
