Even the mostsophisticated automated systemswill only deliver reliable results ifthe volumetric instruments usedin preparing the samples meet therequired precision.BLAUBRAND ® volumetric instrumentsrepresent the highest degreeof technical perfection. They aremade of glasses which are highlyresistant to nearly all chemical substances– a prerequisite for durableprecision.Class A/ASVolumetric instruments of class A/AS are within the error limits defined by DIN and ISO andare according to DIN 12 600 admissible for conformity certification.Graduation:ring marks at major graduationsMarks and inscriptions in high contrast blueenamel. It represents the optimum combinationof resistance and readability.Marks and inscriptions in ETERNA amberstain. It diffuses into the glass surfaceand can only be removed by abrasion. It isused for volumetric instruments which aresubjected to particularly aggressive cleaningmethods.CalibrationEvery glass volumetric measuringinstrument is individually calibrated.Computer-controlled systems ensuremaximum precision in a fully automatedproduction line.'Statistical Process Control' (SPC)guarantees production of volumetricinstruments with the smallest deviationfrom nominal capacity (accuracy)and narrow scatter of individualvalues (coefficient of variation).Class BVolumetric instruments of class B are within twice the error limits for class A/AS as definedby DIN and ISO.Marks and inscriptions in high contrastwhite enamel.ETERNA marks and inscriptions in amberstain are particularly resistant to aggressivecleaning methods.Types of calibration'TC, In': The contained quantity ofliquid corresponds exactly to thecapacity indicated on the instrument(e.g., graduated cylinders andvolumetric flasks).'TD, Ex': The delivered quantity ofliquid corresponds exactly to thecapacity indicated on the instrument(e.g., pipettes and burettes).Silk-screeningSilk-screen printing follows calibration.BRAND uses flexible screenstencils for all graduated pipettes,burettes, graduated cylinders, andmixing cylinders. Thus, the volumemarkings on the stencil exactlymatch the calibration marks, at allcapacities. Even intermediate volumeson BRAND volumetric instrumentsare extremely precise. Forsilk-screen printing BRAND usesspecial inks designed for volumetricinstruments.Graduation:short graduation marksFiringHigh quality inks combined with carefully controlled annealing processes provide durablegraduations. The most modern manufacturing technology is used for controlled heating andcooling. The maximum temperature is between 400 and 550 °C, depending on the type ofglass.Quality assurance, AQL ≤ 0,4The QM system is DIN EN ISO 9001 certified, and includes ongoing testing during themanufacturing process with final random sample testing in compliance with DIN ISO 3951at final inspection. The accepted quality level (AQL) is less than or equal to 0.4 (see page318 for further information.)Heating of volumetric instrumentsAll reusable BLAUBRAND ® and SILBERBRAND volumetric instruments can be heated upto 250 ºC in a dry box or sterilizer without having to worry about a change in volume.
