Protection tube6857493122101111. Introduce the tunnelatingneedle lateral to the rectusmuscle, preferably in the lineasemilunaris, from the insideof the abdominal wall goingout through the skin.2. Insert the catheter, with theprotective tubing on, throughthe tip of the tunnelatingneedle.3. Place a 6-0 resorbable suture in the falciform ligament4. Insert the introducer inthe middle of the falciformligament, in direction tosegment IV and VIII as closeto the suture in the ligamentas possible.5. Unscrew the protectivetubing on the catheter byturning it counterclockwise.6. Remove the needle from the splitable Introducer.Carefully insert the catheter.7. Grasp the tabs of the splitabletube (three hands needed ) andpull the tabs apart, away fromthe indwelling catheter, until thetube splits down to its entirelength.8. Keep holding the catheterin place with the forceps. Tiethe suture already placed inthe falciform ligament to thesuture of the catheter. Tie thecatheter as tightly as possibleto the ligament. Cut off theexcess suture material.9. Place the fixation device (white plastic wing) close tothe insertion site and secure it to the catheter by suturingover the grooves/indentations.10. Suture the fixation device to the skin through thetwo holes.11. Put a protective bandage over the insertion site, e.g.Tegaderm®, OpSite® or similar.
