The Vineyard, Fall Edition, 2007GajaAngelo & Lucia Gaja“Italy’s most fascinating and revolutionary winemaker.” Robert Parker“Angelo Gaja makes the most exciting wines in Italy. He has few equals in terms of his sheer determinationand dedication to great winemaking.” Wine Spectator“Understand the man and you will understand the wines. Behind the exuberance, behind the dominatingpersonality, behind the Latin passion, behind the skilled manipulation of the domestic and export marketand the media there is a poet and a philosopher, a man of sensitivity and taste, a thinker and a perfectionist. And behind the wines, underneath the still atypical cleanliness and vibrant expression of Nebbiolo fruit,in addition to the oakiness and the concentration, is the element that sets Gaja wines above the rest; breed. You can see it in the Chardonnay; you can see it in the Barbera. Above all you can see it in the single-vineyardBarbaresco. This is triumphant, artistocratic Nebbiolo. Wine of great individuality - and wine which forall its ‘modernity’ has not lost its soul.” Clive Coates2004 Barbaresco_____________________ 159.992004 Barbaresco__________________ mag. 349.992003 Barbaresco_____________________ 149.992003 Barbaresco__________________ mag. 349.992000 Barbaresco_____________________ 189.991999 Barbaresco_____________________ 159.991998 Barbaresco_____________________ 169.991997 Barbaresco_____________________ 299.991990 Barbaresco_____________________ 349.992001 Brunello Rennina di Montalcino ______ 99.991999 Brunello di Montalcino Rennina_ _____ 99.992001 Brunello di Montalcino Sugarille______ 149.991999 Brunello di Montalcino Sugarille______ 129.992006 Chardonnay Rossj Bass_____________ 56.992001 Conteisa_______________________ 199.992000 Conteisa______________________ 179.992004 Costa Russi_____________________ 329.992004 Costa Russi__________________ mag. 749.992004 Costa Russi________________ 3.0 liter 1899.992003 Costa Russi_____________________ 279.992001 Costa Russi_____________________ 349.991999 Costa Russi_____________________ 349.991996 Costa Russi_____________________ 599.991995 Costa Russi_____________________ 599.991993 Costa Russi_____________________ 549.991993 Costa Russi__________________ mag. 1199.992001 Darmagi_______________________ 189.991999 Darmagi_______________________ 199.992004 Sori San Lorenzo_________________ 329.992004 Sori San Lorenzo______________ mag. 749.992004 Sori San Lorenzo____________ 3.0 liter 1899.992003 Sori San Lorenzo_ ________________ 279.992001 Sori San Lorenzo_ ________________ 349.992000 Sori San Lorenzo_________________ 349.991999 Sori San Lorenzo_ ________________ 349.991998 Sori San Lorenzo_ ________________ 329.991997 Sori San Lorenzo_ ________________ 699.991996 Sori San Lorenzo_ ________________ 599.991993 Sori San Lorenzo_ ________________ 549.992004 Sori Tilden_ ____________________ 329.992004 Sori Tilden_ _________________ mag. 749.992004 Sori Tilden_ _______________ 3.0 liter 1899.992003 Sori Tildin_____________________ 279.992001 Sori Tildin_____________________ 349.992000 Sori Tilden_ ____________________ 349.991999 Sori Tildin_____________________ 349.991998 Sori Tildin_____________________ 329.991997 Sori Tildin_____________________ 699.991996 Sori Tildin_____________________ 599.991995 Sori Tildin_____________________ 599.992004 Sperss_ _______________________ 169.992003 Sperss_ _______________________ 169.992001 Sperss_ _______________________ 199.992001 Sperss_ ____________________ mag. 399.992001 Sperss_ __________________ 5.0 liter 1399.992000 Sperss_ _______________________ 239.99info@brownderby.com • www.brownderby.com PG. |

During his time inFrance, he was motivated to spend time in local vineyards, and upon his return to theStates, at age 21 he began working at the Fess Parker Winery. His philosophy embracesbasic artisinal winemaking techniques, including hand-harvested fruit, fermentation insmall one and a half ton fermentors, punching down, some cluster usage dependingon the vintage conditions, and little racking or intervention until the wines are bottledunfined and unfiltered…I tasted through a number of the 2006 vineyard cuvées, andthey all looked slightly lighter, but very fruit-forward. They will probably be morecharming in their youth, without the weight, density, and structure of the 2005’s.” WineAdvocatePG. | Phone 1-800-491-3438 • Local 417-883-4066 • FAX 417-881-0036

The Vineyard, Fall Edition, 20072005Nicolas RossignolNicolas Rossignol“Unprepared for the enormity of his range of Pinots (eight Volnays, four wines each fromBeaune and Pommard, plus myriad other appellations) and their multiple locations, I wasregrettably unable to taste all of the 2005s from this domaine. But based on the consistentexcellence of what I sampled - not to mention prices well below those commandedby Volnay’s most celebrated vignerons - consumers should hasten to claim whateverthey can from this vintage, which Rossignol characterizes as ‘complete, combining therichness of 1999 with the finesse of 2002.” Wine Advocate2005 Beaune_ __________________________________________________________________________ 39.99“From near the Epenotes cru comes a rarity in Burgundy, namely a ‘mere’ village 2005 Beaune. A lovely deep, black-edgedcolor reflects these old vines and their nutty, stony meaty, black-fruited flavor concentration. Blackberry, beet root, toastedwalnut, and tobacco feature prominently on a silken, expansive and impressively dense palate, which this wine stains thoroughlywhile displaying just a bit of post-bottling tightness in its finish.” Wine Advocate, rated 90+/1002005 Bourgogne Rouge____________________________________________________________________ 22.992005 Savigny Les Beaune Fourneaux___________________________________________________________ 49.99“Vinified with around a third whole clusters, the 2005 Savigny-les-Beaune Les Fourneaux smells of cooked blackberry andraspberry with overtones of underbrush and smoke. Rich and substantial in the mouth, it finishes with generous fruit but firmtannins, accentuated by its recent sulfuring and bottling.” Wine Advocate, rated 90+/1002005 Volnay____________________________________________________________________________ 49.99“From young, clonally-diverse vines in la Bouchere – a very chalky, rocky site high above the village – Rossignol’s 2005 Volnayis loaded with deep, dark black cherry fruit, cherry pits, salty, chalky, iodine- and iron-like minerality. Incipiently velvety in themouth, it promises to blossom with 3-5 years in the bottle, which it seems not at all disturbed by having just been put into. Here is the spirit of Volnay in a great vintage at a modest price: run, don’t walk!” Wine Advocate, rated 92/1002005 Volnay Chevret_ _____________________________________________________________________ 64.99“From a deeper site just below Caillerets and north of the Santenots du Milieu, a 2005 Volnay Chevret offers generous ripeblackberry, a simple, salty mineral expression, and a compelling richness and sheer fruit intensity. Dark forest floor notes areonly hinted at, although this is almost certain to offer more complexity after allowing it 5-7 years to shut down and recover.”Wine Advocate, rated 92/1002005 Volnay Santenots_ ___________________________________________________________________ 64.992005 Volnay Caillerets__________________________________________________________________ mag. 129.99“From 20 and 50 year-old vines (the younger touching d’Angerville’s parcel and the older the 60 Ouvrees) Rossignol’s 2005Volnay Caillerets largely leaves behind fruits and berries for a tour of stony terroir on the back of a wild animal. Iodine, chalkand cherry pit pungency and bitterness, invigorating saltiness, tart hints of red currant, fascinating florality, and gaminessmake for a complex young Pinot, dense and full of fine tannin yet already hinting at creaminess. The length and multifariousmineral dimension harbor grand cru pretensions, and I would not hesitate to hide bottles away for 8-10 years.” Wine Advocate, rated 94/100info@brownderby.com • www.brownderby.com PG. | 15

The Vineyard, Fall Edition, 2007Rare, IrreplaceableVintage MadeirasVintage Madeira is a very rare commodity, in fact extremely rare. Vintage years are declared 30 yearsafter the vintage. The wines are kept in cask for 20 years before being bottled. They are ready to drinkat this stage but are still considered young wines. Make no mistake, these elder citizens are wines ofgreat consequence. Madeira, meaning “forested” in Portugese, is a small volcanic island 400 miles offthe coast of Morocco. Vines grow perched on ledges in the fertile soil, infused with potash from a firethat raged for 7 years in the 15th century. Madeira is one of the longest lived of all wines and hasretained its popularity since the 18th century, and, despite attacks by odium and phylloxera, outstandingquality wine has been produced since the 19th century. Today’s Madeira is known by the principalgrape varieties used; Sercial producing the driest wine, Verdelho, Bual and Malmsey, the sweetest.Madeira Styles• Sercial: Made from the Sercial grape. Often high tone, nutty, with lots of character. Dry wine.• Verdelho: Medium to dry from the Verdelho grape.Smoky complexity with tang of acidity.• Bual: Dark medium-rich, raisiny made from the Bualgrape. Retains acidity with age.• Malmsey: From the Malvasia Candida and MalvasiaBabos grapes. Very sweet. Big levels of acidity. Gainsrichness with age.BarbeitoIt is ironic that among major producers of Madeira, theyoungest firm has the most impressive stock of very oldwines not only on the island of Madeira, but in the world.Vinhos Barbeito was founded just 58 years ago, in 1946,by Mario Barbeito de Vasconcelos, a wealthy businessman. The firm’s incredible range of old vintages today isdue to his foresight, since in the 1940’s and 1950’s Bareitode Vasconcelos went around the island buying up largequantities of privately owned wine, some of it dating backto the 18th century. These old wines became the foundationfor one of the world’s most unique wine libraries.1960 Boal____________________________199.991955 Boal____________________________299.991953 Boal____________________________299.991912 Boal____________________________349.991910 Boal____________________________349.991962 Malvasia_________________________199.991954 Malvasia_________________________299.991948 Malvasia_________________________349.991875 Malvasia_________________________599.991935 Sercial_ __________________________299.991910 Sercial_ __________________________349.991929 Verdelho_ ________________________299.991926 Verdelho_ ________________________299.99BlandysThe Blandys are unique in being the only family of all theoriginal founders of the Madeira wine trade to still ownand manage their own original wine company; nearly 2centuries of fine wine production, 1811 - 2006.1977 Bual____________________________159.991971 Bual____________________________169.991968 Bual____________________________169.991964 Bual____________________________199.991960 Bual____________________________259.991948 Bual____________________________359.991920 Bual____________________________699.991974 Sercial_ __________________________149.991966 Sercial_ __________________________149.991977 Verdelho_ ________________________159.991968 Verdelho_ ________________________169.99Broadbent1940 Sercial_ __________________________599.991954 Verdelho_ ________________________399.991964 Bual____________________________369.991978 Bual____________________________219.991978 Terrantez_ ________________________289.99CossartCossart Gordon & Co. was established in 1745 and is theoldest company in the Madeira Wine trade. Francis Newton,a young Scot, sailed from Gravesend in Britain andarrived in Madeira on September 12th 1745 founding thecompany. He was joined by his younger brother Thomasfrom 1758 to 1763 and then by another Scot, Thomas Gordonof Balmaghie also in 1758. Thomas Murdoch joinedthe firm in 1791 that came to be called Newton, Gordon,Murcoch & Co. By 1850 the firm was said to be shipping“half the growth of the island” and Newton’s contacts inAmerica through his brother Andrew (who left Scotlandfor Virginia) were proving to be highly successful and thecompany acquired an unequalled reputation as suppliersof fine Madeiras. To this day, Cossart Gordon Madeiras areconsidered the very finest available.1963 Bual____________________________199.991950 Sercial_ __________________________249.99D’OliveiraD’Oliveira is one of the greatest of the classic Madeirashippers, and one of the few to survive from the pre-phylloxeraera. Founded in 1820, and today housed in cellarsthat date from 1619, this small jewel of a company is stillowned by the same family, its vineyards holdings built upover time through a series of marriages with other wineproducingfamilies. But what is really extraordinary is that D’Olivera hasheld on to many of its most famous vintages, creatinga unique, and irreplaceable, stock of old wines. The Vineyard, Fall Edition, 2007Sherries ExtraordinaireSuperb Sherries ofEmilio Lustau“Simply staggering in quality…what complex fine old Sherry is all about…Sherries such as these remainamong the last great unknown bargains of the world. They must be tasted to be believed!” Robert Parker“Lustau stands at the very apex of the Sherry world.” Decanter Magazine“…as different from standard Sherries as chalk from cheese.” Clive CoatesThe House of Emilio Lustau, founded in 1896, is one of the largest independent, family-owned producers inJerez today. In addition to their highly-acclaimed “Reserva Range” of typical sherries, they currently offer,in extremely limited quantities, ten “Almacenista” wines. These are carefully selected and drawn from smallstocks of authentic, pure, unblended and completely dry, classical Sherries matured by the “Almacenistas”of Jerez and its surroundings, in southern Spain. As well Lustau is quite proud to offer their very rare“Landed Age” Sherries. Quantities are extremely limited in all cases.Almacenista Sherries“Over the last decade, Lustau has become noted for anumber of specialty sherries, including the Almacenistas(meaning storekeeper or stockholder, pronounced almath-en-eesta)- great old Sherries that Lustau buys fromstocks produced and own by private individuals, bottledin very small quantities. There are about 54 Almacenistas in the Sherry district, acting as stockholders, some of which have their ownvineyards. They all mature stocks of exceptionally highqualityold sherries.Whenever a shipper needs to improve a blend of Olorosoor Fino, he may obtain a butt or two from an Almacenista. The name of the Almacenistas never appeared on a bottleof Sherry until recently when the House of Lustau (itselfan Almacenista until 1950) decided to release a selectrange of these fine, old unblended Sherries, which theypurchased from various Almacenistas.A Designation such as 1/50 appears on the label and indicatesthat the bottling is from a Solera consisting of only50 butts, with the smaller the number of butts the rarerthe wine.” The Underground Wine JournalAntonio BorregoOloroso Viejo 1/138 _ ________________________ 32.99“...is one of the most riveting dry sherries I have evertasted.” Wine Advocate, rated 96/100Jose Luis GonzalesObregonAmontillado Del Puerto 1/10_ __________________ 34.9918.5% alcohol. The Vineyard, Fall Edition, 2007“As true as it ever was…MerlotIs America’s sweetheart“Despite the availability of intriguing wines from around the globe and our increased willingness to trythem, our oldest and truest friend may still be our dearest.‘Merlot is the leading red varietal wine purchased by Americans today,’ the San Francisco-based WineInstitute, citing an AC Nielson poll, declared just last year. According to Nielsen, Merlot became the top redwine in the U.S. in 1999, and has been America’s darling ever since.Merlot’s most lovable quality may well be its versatility at the table. We had the honor of visiting with Stephen Hansel at his winery last summer to taste a few wines and talkabout upcoming releases, all of which reinforced our opinion that this is one of the true gems in California!Stephen maintains a philosophy that good wine is made to be consumed, and to that end, he keeps the pricingon his wines very reasonable, particularly considering that all the fruit is estate-owned in a very desirablelocation in Sonoma. The wines themselves have tremendous character and elegance, due to the vineyard siteand to Stephen’s preference for Burgundy and the influence that this has upon his winemaking decisions. We are fortunate to represent these wines and can highly recommend any of them to our customers.$34 99per bottlePG. 50 | Phone 1-800-491-3438 • Local 417-883-4066 • FAX 417-881-0036

The Vineyard, Fall Edition, 2007Highly Ratedand Very Much Sought AfterChateauneuf du PapeClos du Papes2004 Chateauneuf du pape“The 2004 Clos des Papes Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out to be one of the finest wines of the vintage…thisblend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, and the rest some of the other red varietals that are permitted,is performing beautifully and is certainly one of the vintage’s superstars. The wine is full-bodied, powerful, rich, andas accessible as the 2003, but slightly fresher and not as muscular and thick. Nevertheless, this is a top effort fromthe father and son team of Paul and Vincent Avril. This wine can be drunk now but can be cellared for 15-20 years.”Wine Advocate, rated 95/100“Amazingly refined, with a pure, silky current of raspberry ganache and cassis flavors that glides along supple tannins.Hints of mocha, mineral and garrigue check in on the long, pure finish. Has serious structure for the long haul. All about balance and finesse. Drink now through 2030. 6,880 cases made.” Wine Spectator, rated 96/100“Very rich, in fact one of the more powerful wines of the vintage, with excellent depth and sweetness. A late harvest lastedthrough the first week of October. Yieldswere 32 hectoliters per hectare, resulting inan opaque purple-colored effort revealingLaurence Feraud, proprietorclassic Provencal characteristics of meltedlicorice, roasted herbes de Provence, sweet blackberry and cherry fruit, and hintsof gamy/animal notes and smoke. Meaty, full-bodied, stunningly concentratedand pure, and in need of 4-5 years of cellaring, it promises to be one of the longest-lived wines of the vintage, lastingfor a minimum of two decades.” Wine Advocate, rated 94+/100“A real powerhouse, with muscular layers of fig and black currant compote, backed by by braised beef, chestnut, tobacco and tar flavors. The long, mesquite-filled finish lets additional bittersweet cocoa and dark fruit notes linger, with lots of garrigue. The Vineyard, Fall Edition, 2007Domaine TempierDomaine Tempier’s rosé, considered by many to be the finest inFrance, is fuller and creamier on the palate and shows dimensionsnot often found in rosé. Perhaps the addition of young Mourvèdreis responsible, or the Peyraud’s allowance for the wine to follownatural inclination and complete malolactic fermentation. The Domaine also makes three single vineyard wines, twoblended red wines, and, from time to time, a white wine. La Migoua(single vineyard, 80% Mourvèdre) perhaps displays the most powerand richness. La Tourtine has a higher percentage of Mourvèdre(88%) and a firmer, more elegant structure. Cabassaou is the smallest bottling, made from a kermit Lynch, Importersmall portion of the La Tourtine vineyard which is planted to 100% Mourvèdre, Tempier’s oldestvines.“Domaine Tempier Bandol: One of my favorite wines—a big, spicy red—Domaine Tempier’s Bandol bottles the herbaceouszest of Provence. It’s found on wine lists all over France and is almost always a good buy.” Patricia Wells, Food Lover’sGuide to France“Domaine Tempier today makes one of the finest red wines of Provence. Their’s is a wine that you can end up loving. In my personal cellar I own more bottles of Domaine Tempier’s bold-tasting, soulful red than any other single wine. It maynot be rational; it is a love affair.” Kermit Lynchits2006 Bandol Rosé____________________________________________________________________________ 31.992005 Bandol Rouge___________________________________________________________________________ 41.992005 Bandol La Migoua_ _______________________________________________________________________ 61.992005 Bandol La Tourtine_ ______________________________________________________________________ 61.992002 Denis MortetA re-release“Mortet made some incredible 1993s and I have long thought that he hadn’t matched themuntil I tasted his superb, and wonderfully pure, 2001s. I’m pleased to report that his incredible2002s eclipse both vintages and they should be on your short list of wines to acquire at leasta few bottles of. With that drum roll, Mortet’s take on the vintage is that… ‘the wines areincredibly fresh and this is partially due to the late, and very long malos indeed, the malos just The Late denis mortetfinished in the last couple of weeks. In terms of comparables, on paper, 2002 resembles no vintagein the last 30 years but I think it’s like a great ‘90 in the mouth. In short, 2002 is a dream vintage and it’s the best thatI’ve ever made; in fact I wouldn’t change even one thing that I did.’ At the time of my visit, Mortet was planning to bottlein March and April, without fining or filtration.” Allen Meadows. Burghound2002 Gevrey Chambertin_ ____________________________________________________________________ 89.99“Pungently earthy black pinot fruit aromas lead to bigger, richer, more concentrated flavors blessed with much finer tannins andexcellent persistence.” Allen Meadows, Burghound“Sweet black fruits make up the aromatic profile of the 2002 Gevrey-Chambertin. Pure, vibrant, and expressive, this silky-texturedwine reveals loads of candied black fruit flavors in its lengthy personality.” Robert Parker“Good red-ruby. Black raspberry, blueberry, game, licorice and smoky oak on the nose. Fat, round, sweetand full, with a ripechocolatey flavor. Very round, pliant village wine with sweet tannins and impressive length.” Steve Tanzer2002 Gevrey Chambertin Au Vellé_ ______________________________________________________________ 99.99“Extremely ripe pinot fruit combines with coffee and restrained torrefaction notes leading to rich, suave and velvety flavorsthat offer excellent volume but the same elegance and finesse of the best in this range. This is sappy and exceptionally longwith the tannin quality of a top 1er.” Allen Meadows, Burghound“From a parcel located below the Combe aux Moines, the 2002 Gevrey-Chambertin Au En Vellé sports a magnificent nose ofred cherries, raspberries, and spices. This silky-textured wine explodes on the palate with layers of toasted oak-tinged sweetcherries. Its tannin is present, providing structure, yet it is ripe and suave.” Robert Parker“ Ruby-red. Wild small berries dominate the nose, along with torrefaction notes of espresso and bitter chocolate. Juicy, tightand very intensely flavored, but presently a bit imploded. Still, this comes across as sweeter than the Deree. All dark berriestoday. Finishes firmly tannic and quite long.” Steve TanzerPG. 62 | Phone 1-800-491-3438 • Local 417-883-4066 • FAX 417-881-0036

The Vineyard, Fall Edition, 2007top flight Redsfrom south america2003CaROWine & Spirits Magazine tasted over 234 Argentina reds over the past 12 months andthe 2003 CARO received their strongest praise!“This joint venture between Lafite Rothschild and Catena is reaching one of the highestlevels in Argentina with the 2003, a monumental and complex blend of Malbec andCabernet Sauvignon (50/50). It opens up with an enchanting cascade of toffee, chocolate, sweet spices and vibrant red fruit flavors; with air, a dusty mineral character and tobaccoscent join in. tThe Vineyard, Fall Edition, 2007Spring Valley VineyardFor over 100 years, Spring Valley has been a premiere location for wheat ranching.Since the late 1800s, the Corkrum family has farmed in this area and by 1910 UriahFranklin Corkrum had acquired the land that now encompasses Spring ValleyVineyard. Today, Shari Corkrum Derby - granddaughter of Uriah - and her husband,Dean Derby, continue the tradition of farming this land.Spring Valley Vineyard is a limited production facility, exclusively producingEstate bottled red wine. The fanciful names given to their wines are a tribute tothe family members who have struggled and succeeded in farming the same landwhere Spring Valley Vineyard flourishes. Uriah Corkrum, Shari’s grandfather, wasborn in Walla Walla on June 1, 1866. He began successful farming on his own during the 1880’s. Poor weather kepthim from getting his crop out of the field and he lost everything during the first great depression of 1893. Hestruggled but preserved and by 1910 acquired land in the area known as Spring Valley. Frederick Corkrum son toUriah and father to Shari, grew up in Spring Valley. Farming with his father and brothers, Federick took care of themules and drove them in all aspects of the farming operation.Today, Spring Valley Vineyard supports 7 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, 18 acres of Merlot, 8 acres of CabernetFranc, 2 acres of Petit Verdot, 1 acre of Malbec and 4 acres of Syrah grapevines within its forty acres.2005 Uriah__________________________________________________________________________ 49.992004 Uriah__________________________________________________________________________ 49.992004 Uriah__________________________________________________________________ Rare magnum 99.99Rated 93/100, Wine Spectator“The 2004 Uriah is 60% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Petit Verdot.
