The wines are kept in cask for 20 years before being bottled. They are ready to drinkat this stage but are still considered young wines. Make no mistake, these elder citizens are wines ofgreat consequence. Madeira, meaning “forested” in Portugese, is a small volcanic island 400 miles offthe coast of Morocco.
