Thatis where she introduced me to her bestfriend, Jamie Daugherty, who alsoplayed on her dart team. He becamemy husband from 1998-2003, go figure.I played as a zero in the ParityDraw, and took 1st place. We moved toSeattle within a month. Yep, a playerwas born that night. I couldn’t get uphere fast enough. So were you raised in Oregon? I was raiseddown on the Oregon Coast and WillametteValley. Born here in Seattle, but sorry, I’m a Beaver fan. Probablybecause I had a chance to receive a fullride 4-year athletic scholarship to playVolleyball at the University of Oregon, which I turned down to get married at17 years old. I know, if there was onedecision that I could go back in timeand change… having a chance to beon the 1988 United States OlympicVolleyball team should have been thecorrect path, but no! OMG, right?Oh Lenna! What kind of special interestsdid you have as a kid? I was a real “TomBoy” until I was at least 12 years old.Raised on the farm, cattle, gardening, horses, chickens, and of coursepeacocks. Who needs a guard dogwhen you have some of those birdsman! Love the feathers but those arethe loudest things I’ve ever heard. Iplayed all sports but really excelledin softball, volleyball, and basketballas I got older. I eventually focused myefforts on being the best volleyballplayer that I could, which helped meto receive the honors of being an All-State and All-League player, scoutedby some big colleges. I also enjoyedsoftball and continued to play for severalyears after school. I even playedon the co-ed team out of the PickledOnion, just a few summers ago. Thatwas a blast too. Oh “those” muscleshaven’t been used in a LONG time.So hella sore, but it was fun.Who were some local greats in the sportback in the early days? After 20 yearsof playing darts several nights aweek, losing brain cells from drinkingalcohol, working in the aerospacebusiness for 15 years, killing morebrain cells from stress, and being sickfor the last 7 years, killing even morebrain cells from all the medicationsI’m taking, I am surprised that I caneven remember MY name! I rememberDave Swensen and Brad Bogart fromBogarts, Randy Ebbesen and JohnnyWoo from the Mustard Seed II, NormGroendyke from Casa Miguels, SteveAreonis and Mark Bauch from Shootthe Breeze, Chuck O’haran from theUniversity Sports Bar. Jim Pope andAllen Nutter from the Portland area, and if I just sat here and texted TC,we could come up with a whole bunchmore. The White Spot (now Cloud 9)was full of top players back then, alongwith the Lucky 7, Pub at Juanita Bay,Sluggers, Yen Ching (Grand Peking).I miss them all too. I was so lucky tohave friends in the dart communitydown in the Portland area. In theKristen and Lennasummer, I would take my son down tomeet my ex-husband (halfway), thengo stay with friends and play in a fewtournaments for the weekend. I alwayshad a blast and got to meet so manymore players. I hope I didn’t spell anyone’sname wrong – sorry if I did. With the few brain cells you have left, what’syour favorite memory in darts? Therehave been so many great memories forme over the years. 18+ years ago, I wasplaying CC Trios (I think) with mycousin TC and Diana Parris. I thinkwe were all or 2’s and 4’s but not sure.Anyway, I made TC a special “pregnant”team shirt, by putting somepanels in the sides, that way we couldall look like a team (which used to bea big deal). Wouldn’t you know it, wemade it to State. Our flight played at9am on Saturday morning, but MarkFirestone, Jamie and I played in aTrios Bring Friday night. We endedup going to the pit and winning. Atlike 2:30am we go up the motel roomand TC is awake. I’m like, “Honey, please tell me that you are not inlabor, right?” She was overdue by acouple of weeks already, I think, butshe said, “No, just so excited to playand my back hurts, so still awake). Idon’t think that either one of us gotany sleep and were down in the dartroom warming up by 8am on Saturdaymorning. We did so good that we madeit to the pit and were so excited wecried all the way from the starting ofthe Pit march to the end, hugging andhigh-fiving everyone. Going to the Pitused to almost bring the whole tournamentevent to a halt. Most of the dartplayers would walk over to cheer onthe final teams, it was so exciting foreveryone in the room. Anyway, we gotinto the Pit area and started to play.We had been on our feet since like8am and it was now around 2pm(ish).I turned around to see TC all squattedSee Player Profile on page 8

6There’s always good looking ladies everywhere at the Inn Sportsbar in LynnwoodINN SPORTSBAR; LYNNWOOD, WABig money at the InnOctober 2011 - www.themedallion.netBy Ty HughesSaturday, September 17 was thefirst time the Inn Sportsbar had hosteda $1,000 Added. Sure, there wereplenty of other tournaments going on,but they rolled the dice, took a chance, and pulled it off with flying colors.Twenty-two teams came out tothe Inn that Saturday night for thebig-money dart shoot. Dart Coordinator,Ed Winkle, was busy keepingeveryone busy. So many familiar facesfilled the room. Dart “regulars” fromthe northend flooded the Inn, orderingfood and drinks in massive amounts.Even Nico and his buddies traveled upfrom Seattle to join the action, hopingto walk away with some extra cash intheir pockets.Jack Stickles and Stephanie Stotesberrymanaged to put Ed Winkleout of the tournament, not realizing atthe time that he was the designated“Bounty Team”. They were handed ahundred dollar bill for this feat, whichwent a long way to covering Jack’smounting bar bill that night.Congratulations are an orderfor the following tournament playersthat night:1st Place ($650); Carlos and Dustin2nd Place ($280); Doug and Moody3rd Place; Daniel and DonOwners Michael and Cindy havecompletely transformed this fledglingbar since taking ownership. They’veincorporated their years of experiencein the industry and implemented aphilosophy toward the business thathas paid off bigtime. Simple ideas, like keep it clean, simple, cater to thefemales and the boys will come, offerinexpensive drinks and do volumerather than try to scrape by chargingpremium prices. They’ve been able to built theirbusiness around a great staff, excellententertainment, and maintaininga hands-on approach despite a tougheconomy. People still go to the bars ina recession, probably even more. Butwith your competition on every corner, how can you stand out and ensure thatyour customers visit your bar first?Well, Michael and Cindy have an ideaabout that. And it seems to be workinglike a charm at the Inn Sportsbar!Pop in and take a gander at theoperation in Lynnwood at 16716 Hwy99, or call them at (425) 743-0700. Alsocheck out their active Facebook page under“The-Inn Sports-Bar And-Grill”.They will also be hosting theofficial northend’s In-House SummerLeague Finals on Saturday, October1 and Saturday, October 8.
