At present, the Klasmann-Deilmann Group’s core business is the development,
production and sale of growing media. These activities offer
attractive prospects and additional potential both now and into the future.
Alongside this, however, Klasmann-Deilmann is keen to apply its extensive
expertise in the processing and utilisation of biomass to other commercial
sectors. Here, too, awareness of the need for responsible management of
natural resources has an impact – as does the entrepreneurial necessity
of risk spreading, achieved by diversification into different areas of business.
Here, the ‘ecology’ and ‘economy’ pillars of sustainability go hand in hand.
Since the 2009 financial year, Klasmann-Deilmann has been developing
a new business unit, ‘Renewable Energy and Resources’, as part of its
long-term sustainability strategy. The aim is, through various projects, to
enter into areas of business that fit the company’s sustainability profile
and will also contribute to financial earnings in the future.
