Treading more lightly
with logistics
Logistics is one of Klasmann-Deilmann’s key competencies. Longstanding
business relations with reliable freight forwarders and
transport service providers both at home and abroad ensure that all
orders are dealt with reliably and as rapidly as possible.
In 2010, Klasmann-Deilmann used:
· 40,000 lorries;
· 2,200 railway cars;
· 135 boats/ships; and
· 7,300 containers.
Klasmann-Deilmann’s growing media and raw peat materials are
relatively bulky and heavy. To an increasing extent, they are shipped
abroad from production facilities in Germany, Lithuania, Ireland and
the Netherlands – often overseas. This results not only in high costs
but also in an environmental impact.
