The priority in corporate healthcare in 2010 was, as in previous years,
the carrying out of regular preventive health checks and the promotion
of various measures to improve the workforce’s general health.
This includes free flu vaccinations in the autumn, which have been
available for some years now.
In addition, an internal works agreement promoting the health of all
employees enables staff to make use of gyms and other fitness
centres. This helps workers to be pro-active in keeping their bodies
healthy; this can prevent disease or, if they do fall ill, facilitates more
rapid recovery.
Health and safety management system
Klasmann-Deilmann GmbH maintains a health and safety management
system that is based chiefly on the following activities:
· Preparation of job-specific risk assessments;
· Definition of goals and activities;
· Description of how health and safety is organised;
· Documentation on procedural and organisational aspects
of the structure and processes in place.
The main goal of this system is a zero accident rate.
Important measures to improve health and safety are regular on-site
inspections by in-house and external safety experts, company medical
officers and safety officers, as well as meetings of the health and safety
committees. These efforts are chiefly aimed at identifying potential
workplace hazards in good time and, as far as possible, to remove or
remedy them.
To encourage staff to get involved, a ‘safety competition’ was introduced
in 2002. The aim of this annual event is to enhance safety
awareness among people working in the company. Efforts that meet
the requirements set for this contest are rewarded with non-cash
prizes. Regular training courses form an integral part of this work.
