Energy-saving measures
Its ISO 14001 certification commits Klasmann-Deilmann to continually improving its
environmental management system. This includes efforts to use energy as efficiently as
possible, to reduce consumption and thus, ultimately, to lower the company’s CO2
emissions. Key aspects are the reduction of power and diesel consumption. To identify
areas with potential for energy saving, factors such as energy consumption are monitored
and evaluated on an ongoing basis, leading to the introduction of efficiency measures.
From 2009 to 2010, for example, diesel consumption at Klasmann-Deilmann GmbH was
reduced by 11 %.
However, measures aimed at changing employees’ awareness and actions also help
reduce energy requirements. An example of this is the internal ‘energy check’ scheme
which involves specific measures for saving energy in the workplace. Moreover, the
use of an automated recording and processing system should help the requirements
to be met for certification of the company’s energy management system to the
DIN EN ISO 16001 standard.
All measures that lead to energy savings have a positive impact at Klasmann-Deilmann
in terms of both the ‘ecology’ and ‘economy’ pillars.
