vkbZ-Vh-ch-ih- lekpkjExplosives seized from Naxals38 th Bn of ITBP deployed at Raipur (Chattisgarh)launched joint operation- Ambush/Area Domination/Searchw.e.f. January 4 to January 8, 2011 in general area Parvidih. The party seized aluminium containers, nails(5 kg), steelbox, iron rods, flexible wire, booby trap wire, bucket partiallyfilled with grease, tarpaulin, medicines and naxal literatureon 7 th January, 2011 from general area Rankatta. The party also seized Chinese hand grenades, plastic bags, wire, pouch AK 47, battery, glucosebottles, note books, diaries, medicine, iron box, bucketfilled with 6-7 kg of grease, steel tiffin of 10 kg capacity, nails (5 kg), anklet and Naxal literature on January 8, 2011and suspected naxals were apprehended from generalarea Rankatta. On receipt of information from reliable source, ajoint operation was launched on 25 th December, 2010 ingeneral area Sambalpur. Two tiffin bombs, one containercharge, four bundles of flexible wire with approximate lengthof 400-500 mtrs, steel box, pistol pouch, medicines, rationand naxal literature were seized from the naxal hideout.Items seized during search operation conducted on7 th & 8 th January, 2011You must have heard or experienced a toothextraction which appears to be a simple procedure. But just imagine a case in which extraction has to bedone under General Anaesthesia (GA) and that too inoperation theatre. Rarely, there do come such occasionsin which we need to do the procedure under GeneralAnaesthesia. Such situations can be :- hyper active childwho does not co-operate, a person immune/allergic tolocal anaesthetic, mentally challenged people. An interesting case came to me in the form ofan autistic teenager, although 17yrs old but was hardlymanageable on dental chair. Two of his lower molarswere badly carious and infected leading to severe painand swelling. The teeth were in such a bad shape thatthey could not be saved by any means. The only optionleft was to extract them and that too without causingmuch trouble to the boy.The case was arranged in the operation theatreunder general anaesthesia by our anaesthetist,Dr. Rakesh Tiwari. After the boy lost his consciousnesscompletely, he was intubated nasally and the extractionprocedure started. The procedure became a bit risky inItems seized during search operation conducted on25 th December, 2010Rare Dental Surgery done in ITBPDr. RASHI SINGH (Dental Surgeon, ITBP)Dental surgery under progressO.T. as the teeth had to be extracted in single piece, asair rotor attached to the dental chair, used to removefractured teeth, could not be carried to the O.T.Sutures were given as the wound area was large. In such cases resorbable sutures should always begiven. There is no need to remove these sutures lateron when the patient is conscious. The boy regainedconsciousness in 30 minutes after the procedurewas completed and was fit enough to go home in fewhours.14ekpZ 2011
