<strong>vkbZ</strong>-<strong>Vh</strong>-<strong>ch</strong>-<strong>ih</strong>- <strong>lekpkj</strong>ITBP organised DogTraining SymposiumA Dog Training Symposium was organised by NationalTraining Centre for Dogs(NTCD) of ITBP at Bhanu on 25 thNovember, 2010.The Dog Wing of ITBP, after having been declaredas a nodal agency by the MHA and entrusted with theresponsibility for the training of Central Armed <strong>Police</strong>Forces dogs & handlers, had taken on this responsibility. Inorder to give a fillip to the standards of training and createa common platform where officers/trainers from CentralArmed <strong>Police</strong> Forces and Army can interact and ex<strong>ch</strong>angeideas and expertise, this symposium was organised.This endeavour of ITBP was to facilitate the creationof a forum wherein officers from Army, BSF, SSB, CRPF,SPG, NSG, RPF, State <strong>Police</strong> forces and other alliedagencies can be made aware about the latest advancesin training and management of Security Dogs in ExplosiveDetection, Sear<strong>ch</strong> & Rescue, Tracking, Assault work andInfantry Patrol. This is the second consecutive year whenthis National Symposium has been organised. Last yeartoo, a National Symposium was organised, whi<strong>ch</strong> had seenenthusiastic participation from representatives of Army,Central Armed <strong>Police</strong> Forces, State <strong>Police</strong> forces and civilagencies.The symposium was presided over by Shri RajdipSingh, IG(NW) Ftr Hq, who impressed upon the delegatesto implement the new knowledge gained in the symposium.The <strong>ch</strong>ief guest underscored the a<strong>ch</strong>ievements of ITBPDog Wing and hoped that other organisations would gainfrom our te<strong>ch</strong>nical expertise.During the symposium the presentations/lectureswere delivered by Mr. Hanspeter Bukart, Chief Sear<strong>ch</strong>,<strong>Indo</strong>-Swiss SAR Trg Mission, Mr Robert Sessler, MD,Explosive Detection Te<strong>ch</strong>nologies Ltd, USA, Mr MasoodAhmed, Director, Stealth Paws, Bangalore, Dr. SudhakarNatarajan, Dy. Comdt (Dog Wg) ITBP and Dr. PankajKumar, Asstt Comdt, ITBP. Agility training and confidencebuilding videos were also shown.The symposium was attended by 57 delegates fromvarious organisations in addition to faculty from Switzerland,USA and India.The vote of thanks was given by Col Pradeep Poonia,CVO(SG) Commandant, where he expressed his gratitudeto the DsG of all organisations who had sent their officersto attend the seminar.12Indian and foreign delegates with Shri Rajdip Singh, IG (NW Ftr.)
