Lakeview711 MARION AVESOUTH MILWAUKEE766-5252 OFFICE766-5253 FAXLion’s Den Newsletter March 2013Messsage from the PrincipalAs we continue to explore andunderstand the concept of“bucketfilling” in preparation fornext school year, we will learn aboutthe “Use Your Lid” component in thisnewsletter issue. To review....we ALL carry aninvisible bucket which contains ourfeelings. When our bucket is full, wefeel great; when it is empty, we feelempty and sad. A bucketfiller issomeone who says or does nicethings for other people. By doingthis, they are filling other people’sbuckets and filling their own bucketat the same time. On the other hand,a bucketdipper says or does thingsto cause other people to feel bad. What does “USE YOUR LID” mean?Because your bucket represents youremotional and mental health, it isextremely important that you learnto protect the good thoughts andfeelings you have collected. The“LID” represents a mental shieldagainst anything that would dip intoyour bucket. When you consciouslytrain yourself to stop and thinkthrough a situation as soon as youfeel the hurt, pain, or anger from apainful, embarrassing, or otherwiseunpleasant situation you will be ableto prevent your bucket from beingdipped. At the end of each and every dayask your child....ask yourself....
