<strong>Creighton</strong> <strong>Bluejays</strong>Records and History 2010 in Review Opponents Meet the Players Meet the Staff <strong>Creighton</strong> <strong>Baseball</strong>This is <strong>Creighton</strong>90<strong>Bluejays</strong> After <strong>Creighton</strong>Northwoods LeagueKnown as one of the premier summer collegiate baseball wooden bat leagues in the country, many Northwoods League rosters have included <strong>Creighton</strong>players in recent years. Last season three Jays ventured up north to take part in the league and <strong>Creighton</strong> could see as many as 10 players on rosters thissummer. In addition, current <strong>Creighton</strong> assistant coach Rob Smith has previously been head coach of the league’s Wisconsin Woodchucks.Matt Patterson continued the Jays’ run of success in the league, as he was named to the North Division’s mid-season All-Star Team as a member of theDuluth Huskies in 2009.In 2008, Bobby Lackovic was selected to the 2008 mid-season Northwoods League All-Star Team as a member of the Waterloo Bucks. In 2007 Darin Rufwas named the league’s best offensive first baseman after hitting .348. In 2005, Zach Daeges became the first player in NWL history to win the Triple Crown,batting .366 while hitting 13 home runs and driving in 48 runs for the Waterloo Bucks.<strong>Creighton</strong> players have been successful for years in the NWL. Former <strong>Bluejays</strong> Steve Grasley and Tom Oldham werenamed to the Northwoods League All-Decade Team that was announced in 2004. Grasley’s 19 saves during the summerof 2002 was a NWL record. He returned in 2003 as a starter and led the NWL with nine wins and 91 strikeouts for theleague champion Wisconsin Woodchucks. Also a member of the Woodchucks, Oldham’s 0.74 ERA in 2001 is the lowest inNWL history.
