B L O W E R SBlower SelectionFour Steps to Blower Selection1. Determine CFM and Static PressureCFM is Cubic Feet per Minute and represents the volume of the area to be ventilated.Static Pressure is measured in inches of water. It is the total resistance to incomingair flow from ducts, fittings, elbows, dampers, and other factors. You can determine your existing unit’s capacity by checking the size and performancespecs. For new installations, the CFM and Static Pressure should be determined by amechanical engineer, HVAC contractor, ductwork manufacturer or other professional. All our blowers are 60Hz.For performance curves, please contact Customer Support.2. Select Direct or Belt Drive (if needed)Some size blowers are only available in direct drive. Others can be belt driven as anoption. Consult page 35 for availability.Direct DriveMore compactSingle speedFewer moving partsNo field adjustmentBelt DriveField adjustable to vary capacityFlexible to process changesReduces stress on motor bearingsEconomical in changing environments3. Material Selection of WheelThe wheel’s chemical resistance takes priority because it is under centrifugal stress.PVCGood chemical resistanceBest at room temperatureLow costPolypropyleneVery good general chemical resistanceWithstands higher temperatures, stressesPotentially explosive fumes or dustGENERAL NOTES: Lab Blowers (sizes codes -0050 to -0150) have round inlets and outlets.Industrial blowers have round inlets and rectangular outlets (see dimension charts). All blowers used outdoors must be protected against weather.Blowers are supplied in counter-clockwise up-blast position. Other positions may be requested.31
