Look for severalFCIA visits to Canada in 2013.UL’s Betsy Titus at FCIA’sFIC ConferenceICC Board Accepts cdp ACCESS Report – ActionPending – The concept of remote participation in ICC’scode development process was first raised as early as 2003.In April 2011, the Code Development Review Ad-HocCommittee recommended the initiative to the ICC Board,which confirmed the proposal later in the year. The firstcdp ACCESS Steering Committee meeting was held inJanuary 2012 with webinars, surveys and forums to seekMember feedback leading up to a report. In surveys, themajority of respondents support the cdp ACCESS initiative.“It’s not just about having the money to travel to thehearings,” Dupler explained, “it’s also about having thetime to do it.”During its Oct. 22 meeting in Portland, the CodeCouncil Board of Directors voted to accept the cdpACCESS Steering Committee’s report for the initiative toincrease participation in ICC’s code development process.Code Council Board President William D. Dupler, whoalso serves as a steering committee member, explainedto Annual Conference delegates during a cdp ACCESSForum that the Board will make a final decision on therecommendations at its meeting in December.
