2011 | THANK YOU TO OUR DONORS2LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT & CEODear Friends,011<strong>The</strong> <strong>Chester</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong> relies onprivate support to help us providequality care to the community.Thank you to all of our generous contributors, our friends, foundationsand businesses that so generously supported <strong>The</strong> <strong>Chester</strong> <strong>County</strong><strong>Hospital</strong> during fiscal year 2011. This report includes donors who havecontributed $50 or more during fiscal year 2011; including gifts to theCapital Campaign, gifts for the <strong>Hospital</strong>'s greatest areas of need, giftsdesignated to a specific purpose, donations made in memory or in honorof someone, United Way donations, and matching gifts from companymatching gift programs. <strong>The</strong> category of giving indicates the combineddollar amount that was donated between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011.<strong>The</strong> report also includes a section for sponsors of fiscal year 2011 events.<strong>The</strong> <strong>Chester</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong> was built through the philanthropic support ofa community that recognized a need to improve the availability of healthcareto its residents. All one has to do is walk through the <strong>Hospital</strong>’s original frontdoor and look down at the beautiful gold seal to be reminded of this.Pierre S. du Pont was so impressed withthe care which his friend and employeeLewes Mason received here, he donatedone million dollars (an extraordinarysum in 1924!) to construct our existingfacility in Mr. Mason’s memory. A true commitment todeliver superior care to those who come to us andto build on our clinical mission is clearly in our DNA.<strong>The</strong> <strong>Chester</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong> today is in a stageof medicine where new innovationscome out rapidly and all are capitallyintensive. To remain viable in a verycompetitive market place, we mustcontinue to invest in emergingtechnology aimed at improving thehealthcare of our patients.Through the generosity of anumber of loyal donors, the<strong>Hospital</strong> launched its new RoboticsProgram when we acquired theda Vinci Si Surgical System inJune. This is the latest version ofrobotic technology and offers enhanced 3D, highdefinitionvision of the operative field, enabling usto provide cutting-edge surgery that results in lesspain to our patients and a quicker recovery time.<strong>The</strong> unwavering support of the Women’sAuxiliary resulted in the gift of the EclipseTreatment Planning System, medical technologythat is transforming the way patients with cancerreceive radiation oncology treatment. <strong>The</strong> PhillipsMatt Buffler, Clinical Managerin Respiratory Care Servicesdemonstrates the Neopuff Infant Resuscitator.1theWireless Monitoring System in our EmergencyDepartment and a new Fluoroscopy imagingdevice in Radiology were also donatedby our Auxiliary.Proceeds from our FORE Health Golf Invitational withSean O’Hair funded Neopuff Infant Resuscitatorsand neoBLUE® LED Phototherapy Lights for the wellbeingof our smallest patients who are cared for in ourLevel III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.<strong>The</strong>se donations and the many more representedin this <strong>Report</strong> demonstrate a culture of sustainedphilanthropy that must continue and grow.
