elizabeth and MichaelDrummond are aninspiring couple.Love brought them to<strong>Chester</strong> <strong>County</strong> and the need forhealthcare brought them to<strong>The</strong> <strong>Chester</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>.Over the years, their love andfamily have grown, and the<strong>Hospital</strong> has found a specialplace in their hearts.Elizabeth and Michael areboth native Pennsylvanians –Elizabeth grew up in Columbia<strong>County</strong>, and Michael was raisedin Delaware <strong>County</strong>. After theymarried in 1968, they moved to<strong>Chester</strong> <strong>County</strong> to start a newlife together. <strong>The</strong>y raised theirchildren “up the hill” from the<strong>Hospital</strong> in West WhitelandTownship, where they livedfor 25 years. Being close tothe <strong>Hospital</strong> was convenient,not only for <strong>Hospital</strong> care, butto employ student nurses tobaby-sit the children on the6,000 HOURSMrs. Marie B. In the early 90's theywere fortunate to build theirdream home in Willistown, andit is here that they enjoy helpingto raise their grandchildren.<strong>The</strong> couple agrees that <strong>Chester</strong><strong>County</strong> is the ideal place to live.<strong>The</strong> Drummonds also have along history with <strong>The</strong> <strong>Chester</strong><strong>County</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>. <strong>The</strong>y have beenloyal supporters of the <strong>Hospital</strong>,using the services offered at the<strong>Hospital</strong> for more than 40 years,contributing to the annual givingprogram and special initiativesfor 20 years, and volunteeringfor 18 years.When they think of the <strong>Hospital</strong>,Elizabeth and Michael recountmany stories of their past andcurrent experiences. One of theirmost significant experienceswith the <strong>Hospital</strong> was back in1991 when they brought their 19year old daughter to the <strong>Hospital</strong>.While at school in Virginia, shevolunteers…Opportunities for volunteering at the <strong>Hospital</strong> range from active positions, such as transporting patientsin wheelchairs, to less physically demanding jobs including staffing the information desk or Gift Shop.<strong>The</strong> following adult volunteers achieved milestone hours during fiscal year 2011.2,000 HOURSMrs. Margaret M. She wasin the <strong>Hospital</strong> for six weeks.Michael & Elizabeth haveMichael recalls the team ofseven doctors that cared for theirdaughter, “<strong>The</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong> did anunbelievable job. I was impressedwith the magnificent care, andwe have been committed to the<strong>Hospital</strong> ever since.”Since their daughter’streatment at <strong>The</strong> <strong>Chester</strong><strong>County</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>, Elizabethand Michael have beenmaking annual donations for20 consecutive years. <strong>The</strong>ycontributed to <strong>The</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>’s20&18Y E A R S Y E A R SAnnual Giving Program forIn Fiscal Year 2011, volunteers providedof service to <strong>The</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>.photo by rick davis46,300 HOURSElizabeth has been adedicated member of theWomen's Auxiliary forrecognize that the <strong>Hospital</strong>needs support from thecommunity in order to continueto provide superior care and afull range of services that meetthe needs of our community.<strong>The</strong>y have also supported special500 HOURS [continued]Ms. Patricia RayMs. Dena ReimundMs. Joan RenschMr. Dick RobertsMs. Ruth Spencerinitiatives of the <strong>Hospital</strong>, suchas making a major commitmentto the Capital Campaign. Inaddition, the couple hasopened the home that theybuilt together, Tallwood, to the<strong>Hospital</strong> for special receptionsfor doctors and major sponsors.Not only do the Drummondssupport the <strong>Hospital</strong> by usingthe services and makingmonetary donations, butElizabeth has been a dedicatedmember of the Women’sAuxiliary for the past 18 years.She lights up when she talksabout the wonderful peopleshe has met over the years;all energetic, dedicated andsupportive of the <strong>Hospital</strong>. InMay 2011, she was electedPresident of the Women’s Board.Elizabeth states, “I, like manyothers, always assumed that theWomen’s Auxiliary consistedof doctors’ wives and the wivesof Board members.
