IPfocusWill compliant products be more expensive? The goal for ONVIF is to standardize the interfacefor IP-bases physical security products, whichdoesn’t include the performance or features ofsuch products. Therefore, conformant productsshouldn’t be more expensive. However, it will solelydecided by the suppliers for their own pricingstrategy. How does ONVIF differ from PSIA and otherEuropean standards?ONVIF is a global effort to make it possible to haveone global standard. IP-based physical securitytechnology is not a local issue but a globaltechnology that is rapidly gaining momentum allover the world. Therefore, it is important to addressthe standardization questions without geographicalboundaries and instead with “globalism” as acornerstone throughout the development.Apart from having members representing America,Europe and Asia, ONVIF is continuously discussingwith international standardization bodies.ONVIF has started open discussion with severalinternational standardization organizations. We alsohave an open dialog with PSIA to evaluate mutualopportunities.Thank you Tony...Tony Yang, International Marketing Director,Hikvision Digital TechnologyTony Yang is International Marketing Director forHikvision, and is responsible for branding, marketing strategies, and market positioning, aswell as the development of technology partners toenhance Hikvision’s product compatibility andcompetitiveness.Being in security industry over 7 years, served indifferent roles from market observer to sales andmarketing worldwide, Tony Yang has extensiveknowledge of the evolvement in the industry, aswell as international business practices.Tony Yang holds a BA degree of Journalism fromNational Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan.Dedicated Micros is Banking on DV-IP ATMExpress for Cashpoint SurveillanceDedicated Micros - part of AD Group – has launchedits compact, next generation, DV-IP ATM ExpressDVR (Digital Video Recorder) to deliver faster, lowerpower, and more efficient CCTV video and textintegration. The DV-IP ATM Express system, which can benetworked or used as a standalone solution, istargeted primarily at the banking sector forAutomated Teller Machine (ATM) protection and hasbeen designed, from the start, to cope with theconfined conditions of an ATM. Crucially, the DV-IPExpress ATM is built around an embedded operatingsystem for enhanced reliability and network security- important requirements in this critical area.Looking in more detail at the key features of thenew 4-channel DV-IP ATM Express these include:true global record rates of up to 100pps (PAL) and120pps (NTSC) across the unit; a compact footprintof only 246 mm by 125 mm; low power demands; thepotential - when combined with Dedicated Micros'new ATMi (interface module) - to readily captureand process transaction data which can be recordedwith the video footage. The DV-IP ATM Express'ability to offer live and post event analysis oftransactions through a text search engine can help, for example, to resolve issues regarding cashwithdrawals.Access to the unit's interface, from a local display, means that the DV-IP ATM Express can beconfigured and controlled even without networkconnectivity. The DV-IP Express is also able totransmit footage over low bandwidth links, usingTransCoding so that image streams can be tailoredto suit the viewer's bandwidth requirements, whilstMultiMode Recording supports the dynamicswitching of the resolution, record-rate andcompression per camera. From a user standpoint, the DV-IP ATM Expressbrings the benefits of Dedicated Micros' enhancedGUI (Graphic User Interface) to ATM protection. Avideo timeline and colour-coded soft key operationare now offered as standard plus Point & Gotelemetry control of cameras such as DedicatedMicros' Oracle dome.As the DV-IP ATM Express incorporates NetVuConnected technology this ensures - particularly forlarger scale installations - that it is fully compatiblewith a wide range of CCTV products such as the DV-IP Decoder, Pick-a-Point, DV-IP Server, NetVuConsole, HighVu Excel and NetVu ObserVer. The keybenefit here is that a user can bring all of this, diverse surveillance infrastructure, into a single, unified, viewing platform. As well as the banking role, the DV-IP ATM Express issuitable for retail outlets such as supermarkets andconvenience stores where there is a requirement tomonitor the Point Of Sale (POS) area and in-storecash points. In addition, there is the potential, given its smallsize and low voltage for the DV-IP ATM Express to bedeployed to meet covert or short-term securityrequirements.Said Pauline Norstrom, Director of WorldwideMarketing at Dedicated Micros:"Given the enhanced features built-in to the flexibleDV-IP ATM Express, we anticipate that the take-upwill be even greater than the current DV-IP ATMunit, which has already been deployed successfullyin thousands of bank branches worldwide.“Over the years at Dedicated Micros we haveestablished a strong working relationship with ATMmanufacturers and this continues with the newATMi (interface module), used in conjunction withthe DV-IP ATM Express, which supports both Dieboldand NCR protocols.""It is important to note that many of theenhancements we have introduced, such as the DV-IP ATM Express' compact size, have been madepossible by the capabilities unlocked through theadoption of the 'System-on-Chip' CW5631 VisualSignal Processor (ViSP) from our sister companyChipWrights - also part of AD Group. This access toin-house 'silicon' has given us complete controlover the development of this embedded product, from both a software and hardware standpoint -something we believe is unparalleled in theindustry. In addition, our PowerScript bespokeapplication tool means that, should the need arise,it will be possible for installers, systems integratorsand end users to readily tailor DV-IP ATM Express'solutions to meet their specific needs."issue 27_17
