Iron ore exports via Vizag port rise mom in April - Mjunction

In March along withfines (1,952,194 tons) and lumps (321,114 tons) almost (67,620 tons) of pelletswere exported out of the port.In April almost 2,374,144 tons of iron ore was exported to China, followedby 134,765 tons for Japan and 24,831 tons for Italy. In March however, China(2,001,361 tons) and Japan (339,567 tons) were the only two countries whereiron ore was destined for during the month.The average export price of iron ore, in April having iron content rangingbetween 45% and 61.5% stood at around Rs 4264/ton while in March averageiron ore export price having iron content between 45% and 62.2% stood lowerat around Rs 4154/ton.Iron ore exportsthrough Paradip portfall m-o-m in MarchISMWIron ore exports out of Paradip port fell to 56,800 tons in March this yearas compared to 111,500 tons in February 2012, according to informationavailable with ISMW.OMC Ltd was the major exporter of iron ore in March followed by Globaltrading Solutions and Ore Cast. LG Minerals and Singhania and Sons Pvt Ltdwere other exporters during the month.The average export price of the product stood at around Rs 4,963/ton whilethat in February the average price was around Rs 5,356/ton.In January, almost 128,150 tons was exported out of the port, taking the totalexports for the quarter to 296,450 tons. During the first quarter of 2011, around3,205,760 tons of iron ore was exported out of the port, much higher than theexports recorded in the corresponding period in 2012.In March 2011, iron ore exports out of the port stood at around 814,829 tons– much higher than exports recorded in March 2012.In the financial year 2011-12, iron ore exports out of Paradip stood at around5,263,719 tons, with the entire amount being exported to China.Following are the details of iron ore fines export through Paradip port forChina between January and March 2012:Contd. on next PgIndia Steel Market Watch 44May 23, 2012
