Youwill join <strong>the</strong> ranks of over 200,000 o<strong>the</strong>r instructors who help o<strong>the</strong>rs prevent, prepare <strong>for</strong> andrespond to emergencies.Here is what you need to know about your course:The instructor course is offered in a blended-learning <strong>for</strong>mat with both an online component anda classroom component. The Resources <strong>for</strong> <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong>/<strong>CPR</strong>/AED Instructor Candidates page(www.instructorscorner.org/facpraedcandidates) will provide you with <strong>the</strong> details of <strong>the</strong>requirements and access to everything needed to completed <strong>the</strong> online portion of this courseprior to <strong>the</strong> first classroom session.Course Materials A deluxe instructor kit is included in <strong>the</strong> course price. You will receive it at your firstclassroom session. You will have digital access to all <strong>the</strong> course materials needed to complete your onlinesession.Prerequisites to Enter <strong>the</strong> Classroom ComponentTo participate in <strong>the</strong> <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong>/<strong>CPR</strong>/AED instructor course, you must: Be at least 16 years of age on <strong>the</strong> last day of <strong>the</strong> instructor course. Possess current American Red Cross <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong>, <strong>CPR</strong> and/or AED certification(s) or <strong>the</strong>equivalent. This test is offered online and you have unlimited attempts to completeit. Click on <strong>the</strong> link that says, “<strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong>/<strong>CPR</strong>/AEDInstructor r2011 Precourse Exam” to launch and begin <strong>the</strong> precourse exam; besure to answer each question.• If a “Security Warning” box appears, click “No”.• The content may take a few minutes to load.• Do not click any additional links or close any windows. Doing this willinterfere with launching.Note: Age and <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong>, <strong>CPR</strong> and AED certifications will be verified during your first classroomsession.Certification RequirementTo be certified as an instructor, you must: Successfully complete <strong>the</strong> prerequisite requirement. Attend and actively participate in all course sessions. Successfully complete class activities including two practice-teaching assignments. Score at least 80 percent (20 correct answers out of 25 questions) on <strong>the</strong> instructorwritten exam.
