We are the members ofThe Worcester Gilbert and SullivanSociety – a fantastic Society whichhas been active for nearly 40 years,specialising in the works of greatBritish comedy opera duo, WS Gilbertand Sir Arthur Sullivan.The Society began in 1972 after anannouncement in the local paper foranybody interested. An inauguralconcert was given at The Swan Theatre,Worcester, which was very wellreceived, then followed a fully costumed'Mikado' in the Technical College,in January 1974. We still havetwo founder members with us, BerylDavies and Mandy Lambert! Variousvenues have been used since, butnow we perform at The Swan Theatre,Worcester for our main shows,and in Ledbury, Droitwich, Pershoreand Bromyard for our spring shows.With our next production,“Ruddigore” about to be staged inWorcester from October 15th – 19threhearsal nights are very lively andentertaining…. But I’m sure it will allbe alright on the night…!We have always been known as a'friendly' society and we all try to liveup to this. New members of all agesare always welcome.
