Project and Portfolio Management
ASG has assisted many customers in the requirements, design, selection and implementation of
Project, Portfolio and Program Management tools and organisational constructs. In addition, we
have developed and implemented a number of PMO functions, which has included leveraging and
implementing good practice process models, procedures, position descriptions while coaching and
mentoring client staff to ensure a highly successful uptake. CS1: Queensland DPW Queensland
DPW required a whole of department view of programs and projects across their businesses namely
GoPrint, Shared Services Division (QSG), Office of the CIO, Qfleet, Qbuild and the Corporate
division. We developed the process models, procedures, implemented a central (existing) PPM tool
and repositories. Further, we built upon existing technical solutions to establish dashboard and
scorecard reporting linked to corporate objectives. We screened over 800 projects across the group
and normalised the reporting and rating against objectives. This project received an official and
public commendation from the then CIO, Glenn Marriot. CS2: Australia Post After ASG was
engaged to conduct a maturity assessment of Australia Post’s IT Portfolio, Program and Project
Management process, systems and people, we were asked to lead the implementation of several
recommendations. These recommendations included the implementation of a centralised PMO
function for IT. Though there were some practices performed it required significant input from
external best practices. This PMO project end-to-end took Post IT from near zero control and
visibility of projects, to full transparency, control and alignment of IT projects to business needs
and corporate strategy.
