TRAINING & DEVELOPMENTThe Company’s role and interest are obvious inqualifying national manpower since it openedthe first center for technical training Magwa in1951. A large number of Kuwaitis began trainingat this center and were acknowledged as thefirst craftsmen in Kuwait.Training and development continued throughopening in 1960 a training center equipped withthe latest facilities and workshops.In the mid-sixties and seventies, the Companypresented many training, services, secretariatand administration program to qualify the Kuwaitiyouth for running oil production, exportingand refining operations.At present, the Company is greatly interestedin qualifying and developing the employees atall levels to upgrade their efficiency and preparethem for managing the company operationsproficiently. To achieve this, the Career DevelopmentDepartment prepares the plans for identifyingthe training needs through the most upto-dateinternational methods, devises trainingpolicies and implements them by using all availablechannels, e.g. preparing and implementingtechnical programs, managerial, secretariat andEnglish language program in cooperation withKPC, all consultancy houses and institutions andKuwait University. It also sends the employeesabroad for courses, programs, conferences andwork with international oil companies for acquiringfurther advanced expertise. Training anddevelopment targets concentrate on preparingand qualifying new recruits, including universitygraduates and diploma holders, through specializedprograms in line with the requirements andgoals of the Company’s strategic plan.The Company does not neglect its national rolein training through giving opportunities of fieldtraining to college, institute and university studentswithin its various operations.35
